Following a number of years of controversy surrounding the property, the Brown family has at long last decided to sell their acreage in Coyote Pass.

PEOPLE can reveal Kody, Robyn, Meri and Janelle Brown have formally turned over ownership of the home that has acted as a significant bone of friction amongst the group on Sister Wives.

According to the property records of Coconino County, the stars of the TLC series officially sold their land for $1.5 million earlier in April. This is despite the fact that the sale of Coyote Pass is still an ongoing issue in the current season of the show.

Following their relocation to Arizona in 2018, they made the initial purchase of the property with the intention of constructing a large family compound that would accommodate Kody, his four wives, and their 18 children respectively.

Prior to the dissolution of their multiple marriage in the years that followed, the group’s intention for Coyote Pass was to acquire the property plots and construct houses there so that their families could all live in close proximity to one another.

Christine Brown, who was the first person to quit the multiple marriage in November 2021, also owned a portion of the property at one point in time; however, she sold it back to Kody in August 2022, after the two of them had separated.

During this time, Meri and Janelle both made the announcement that they were going to separate from Kody within fourteen months of Christine’s departure. After their first polygamous marriage, Robyn is the only one of Kody’s wives who is still alive.

In relation to the transaction involving the sale of Coyote Pass, Janelle has been quite public about her lack of faith in Kody.

During an episode of Sister Wives that aired in December 2024, Janelle said that she was not persuaded that Kody would share the property equitably when it came time to ultimately sell it. This was despite the fact that they all contributed to the payment of the land.

The property in Flagstaff that we have been trying to pay off for so long is finally being paid off, but now there is a major disagreement over how to share it. During that period, she expressed her uncertainty about what to anticipate from Kody. He has been somewhat uninterested in the property, and it is possible that he may continue to be uninterested in it as we go ahead. Who can say for sure?

According to what she revealed in an episode that aired in January, her lack of faith in Kody, particularly in light of his past concealment over the circumstance of the property, ultimately caused her to seek the services of a lawyer.

When it came to the split of Coyote Pass, Kody did acknowledge in a prior episode that he considered “screwing” over Janelle. However, he said that his wife Robyn would not allow him to do so.

“She does not trust me because she would take advantage of me if she had the opportunity. That is the belief that I have. I’ll be completely honest with you: I’ve entertained the idea of swindling Janelle,” Kody stated of her. “All right, because I’m being truthful. However, I will not. But my wife, who has a moral compass, won’t allow me to.”

Janelle said on the most recent episode of Sister Wives, which was broadcast on Sunday, April 20, that she was unable to “fully move on” from her relationship with Kody until the sale of Coyote Pass took place. The property was one of her few “ties to Flagstaff anymore,” she remarked before she made her formal move to North Carolina. She was moving to North Carolina.

“I am really just ready to be resolved and have this property sold,” she stated. “I am ready to finish this.” It would be nice if I didn’t have to keep thinking about Kody anymore. Not only do I not want to have to speak to him, but I also do not want to engage with him.

In addition, she said, “I am unable to completely move on as long as that property continues to be a source of contention.”
