At the same time that loved ones from two different states are lamenting the tragic news, a widower in Georgia is grieving the unimaginable loss of his whole family, which included his wife and four young children, who were all killed in a devastating car accident.
It is common knowledge that automobile collisions are dangerous; yet, when individuals are killed, they become much more tragic. Nevertheless, the story that the Dougan family tells is nothing short of inexplicable.
With her children, a three-month-old newborn, a four-year-old boy, a two-year-old girl, and a nine-year-old boy, Reagan Dougan, who was 27 years old at the time, was driving along Interstate 95 South in McIntosh County, Georgia, on the morning of Sunday, April 6, 2025, at around six o’clock.
Although there were times of chaos and commotion, there was also a strong feeling of togetherness among the members of the family, much like any other family on a road trip. After then, a terrible event took place all of a sudden. It was Reagen’s rented SUV that collided with another vehicle. In the aftermath of the fire that broke out in Reagan’s Jeep Cherokee, all four of her children were killed at the site.
His family, the Dougan family, had been making their way to Florida in order to meet her husband, Christian.
According to the authorities, Ronald Reagan booked the SUV for the journey from Raleigh, which is located in the state of North Carolina.
According to Christopher Ashdown, a Georgia State Trooper, the SUV was going at a fast speed when it crashed into the rear of a white Infiniti car. This information was provided to the Associated Press that Christopher Ashdown provided. During the course of the incident, the vehicle reportedly collided with the center barrier before catching fire.
The driver of the second vehicle was able to survive the accident and make it to the hospital. Due to the fact that authorities were looking into the collision, the roadway was stopped for a period of four hours. The reason of the collision is still being investigated, and the investigation is still underway.
“A person who is extremely loving and kind”
The tragic news of the deaths of the family has left both the neighborhood in Raleigh, where they had just relocated, and the town in Florida, where they were vacationing, in a state of shock.
In an interview with WTVD, Christopher “Jonesy” Butler-Jones, a friend of the family, expressed his feelings through tears, saying, “I’m still in shock. The all of her husband’s family was taken away. Just the thought of that breaks my heart.
Reagan was a dedicated mother, and Jonesy characterized her as someone whose biggest desire was to bring up a family that was happy and successful. One of her goals in life was to become a mother and to have a wonderful family throughout the course of her whole life. Dedicated to the cause, she was. The only focus of her life was on her children.
Not only did he remember her as a kind mother, but he also recalled her as the type of friend who could brighten even the worst periods of your life. He told me, “If you are feeling upset, you can call her, and she will take care of you and make you happy.” On the positive side, she is going to show you what’s going to happen.
One community that is in sorrow
Neighbors in Raleigh are going through a difficult time as a result of the sudden passing of a family that they had just recently been acquainted with. WRAL was informed by a neighbor named Jason Flores:
“We never failed to give each other a friendly wave. She was seldom seen without a grin on her face. The children were always joyful. When they prepared their meal, it always seemed to have a pleasant aroma.
Despite their short visit, the family created an effect that will not soon be forgotten. There were several instances of youngsters being seen laughing, climbing trees, and playing outdoors in their front yard.
The stepmother of Christian, Sarah Stoltman, has established a GoFundMe campaign in order to raise money to aid with the costs of the burial and the transportation of the family’s remains to Florida.
As of the time this article was written, the campaign has already collected about $88,000 of its total target of $120,000.
Stoltman said that “while Christian works with his and Reagan’s family to begin mourning these five beautiful souls, we cannot even fathom the financial burden it is going to endure from moving his family from Georgia to their final resting place in Florida,” and that “we cannot even fathom the financial burden that it is going to endure.”
It is because of the charity that Reagan and her children would be able to say their “dignified farewell.”
I am certain that Carter was laughing both before and after this event.

On social media, tributes have been posted by people who may be considered friends as well as total strangers.
Katrina Cusatis, a photographer who had taken pregnancy images for the Dougan family in the autumn of last year, expressed her sorrow on Facebook by saying, “My heart is completely broken over this unimaginable tragedy.” Their love, joy, and connection were genuinely indelible and will never be forgotten.
It was her request that people pray for Christian and provide their support to the family in any manner that they could. “There is a GoFundMe page that you can use to support them during this time if you feel led to do so.”
A friend of Reagan’s named Cecily Corinne Borquez shared a picture of the two of them from their youth together on social media. In the caption, she said, “You were such an amazing friend, the life of the party, an absolute blast to be around, and all around exactly one in a million.” Never in my life will I be able to comprehend how something so terrible could occur to someone who is so remarkable. You will never be unremembered again.”
An Inheritance of Love
Those who were familiar with the Dougan family have been irrevocably altered as a result of their passing. Friends have described Reagan as a shining example of a woman who had a joyful life, loved with genuine affection, and mothered with all of her heart with all of her heart.
In the words of her close friend Jonesy, “There was a very warm and comforting feeling all around her as she was there.” The realization that there is going to be a light at the end of the tunnel was something that I was able to attain as a result of this.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been impacted by this really tragic event!
May that light, the love that Reagan and her children brought into the world, continue to shine brightly for all those who knew and loved Reagan and her children.
