Wendy’s had a mixed response to the food chain’s first of multiple remarks on the pop diva, which asked, “Can we send her back?”
Wendy’s, a fast-food restaurant brand, is responding to its dubious social media statements on Katy Perry and her trip with Blue Origin.
In Bezos’ Blue Origin New Shepard rocket, Perry and an all-female flight crew, including Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, and others, took off on Monday and came home, successfully completing their mission.
Several others expressed their disapproval of the expensive travel, including Wendy’s, which shared a number of postings disparaging Perry specifically.
The official Wendy’s X account tweeted, “Can we send her back?” in response to an X post that said, “Katy Perry has returned from space.”
The now-viral image of Perry kissing the earth as he landed back on Earth was also made fun of by the account. Wendy commented in the follow-up post, “I kissed the ground and i liked it,” alluding to Perry’s popular song “I Kissed a Girl.”
Wendy’s written in another sarcastic way. “When we said women in stem this isn’t what we meant.”

While some internet users seemed to take Wendy’s words as a joke, many others thought the firm went too far and was unfairly focusing on Perry.
One source called Wendy’s postings to People “blatantly inappropriate,” “disrespectful,” and “irresponsible,” claiming that the company had used “its platform to publicly demean a woman.” Wendy’s should apologize, the source, who the newspaper said was close to the case, told People.
In a later response to the site, Wendy’s responded to the criticism of their social media remarks.
With no explicit apology, the fast food restaurant said, “We always bring a little spice to our socials, but Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world-talent.”
Wendy’s postings have not yet received a response from the pop singer.
Singer Kesha seemed to respond to Wendy’s remarks immediately after they went viral, posting a picture of herself joyfully drinking from a Wendy’s cup on X.
Although she did not include a message, it was quickly assumed by internet users that the tweet was a jab at Perry, who has consistently worked with Dr. Luke despite Kesha’s allegations of sexual assault and her legal dispute with the producer. In 2023, Kesha and Dr. Luke reached a settlement.
