When it comes to his emotions about having more children, Elon Musk has never been shy about expressing them. It has been said that he has privately expressed his desire to have a “legion-level” of children before the end of the planet.
His children are referred to as a “legion,” which is a military unit that was used by the Roman army and comprised of thousands of warriors, according to a recent claim that was published in the Wall Street Journal. Musk is a father of fourteen children, which he shares with four different women.
“To reach legion-level before the apocalypse, we will need to use surrogates,” the SpaceX and Tesla CEO, who is 53 years old, reportedly sent Ashley St. Clair via text message when she was pregnant with their kid, who was born earlier this year. (The newspaper said that their kid is called Romulus, which is a name that is associated with Rome. According to tradition, Romulus was the founder of Rome along with his twin brother Remus, who later killed him following an altercation.)
In addition, the newspaper said in its story that Musk has used X, which is a social media network that was originally known as Twitter and was purchased by Musk in 2022, in an effort to meet other women who are interested in having his children.
On Tuesday, April 15, Musk tweeted, “TMZ >> WSJ.” This was in reaction to the news that was published on Tuesday.
Over the course of many years, Musk has been vocal about his concerns that, in the future, humanity could have a “underpopulation crisis.”
Over the course of an event that took place in 2021 with the Wall Street Journal, he said, “I cannot stress this point enough, there are not enough people.” In addition, I believe that the low birth rate is one of the most significant threats to society… It is inevitable that society will descend into chaos if people do not produce more children.
Following the birth of twins with Neuralink CEO Shivon Zilis, he seemed to make a reference to the announcement on social media by posting, “doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis.”
It is alleged that Musk responded to a question posed by Mark Cuban about the number of children he intended to have by saying, “Mars needs people.” Musk, who is still actively focused on making it to Mars with SpaceX, is still aggressively focused on achieving this goal.

In February of 2025, St. Clair made a public statement on X, stating that she and Musk had become parents to a child together in September of 2024.
In the matter of custody, the findings of Musk’s paternity test were said to have concluded that his “Probability of Paternity” was 99.9999%, as stated in the story published by the Wall Street Journal. It was verified to PEOPLE by a spokeswoman for St. Clair that a paternity test revealed that there is an almost one hundred percent chance that the child is the child’s father.
It was in 2002 that Musk’s ex-wife Justine Wilson gave birth to their son Nevada Alexander, who passed away at the age of ten weeks. This was Musk’s first experience as a parent. Five additional children were born to the couple: twins Vivian and Griffin, who are now 20 years old, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, who are now 19 years old.
While he is married to his ex-girlfriend Grimes, he is the father of three children: boys X Æ A-12 and Techno Mechanicus, and a daughter named Exa Dark Siderael. His relationship with Zillis has resulted in the birth of three children: twins Strider and Azure, as well as a girl named Arcadia.
