It was reported by USA Today that McIlroy and Rose were engaged in a fierce rivalry throughout the whole day on Sunday. Both of them were tied at 11 under par, and they needed just one playoff hole to get the upper hand. Before moving on to the playoffs, McIlroy finished with a final score that was one extra point higher than 73.
following that, he ultimately prevailed against Rose with a birdie that won the match, making him just the sixth golfer in history to complete the career Grand Slam. He was also the first player to accomplish this accomplishment in the last quarter of a century (following Tiger Woods in the year 2000).
McIlroy was quoted as saying to CBS shortly after his victory, “It feels incredible,” said USA Today. “This is my seventeenth visit to this location, and I began to question whether or not it would ever be my turn. Over the course of the last decade, I have been coming here with the weight of the Grand Slam on my shoulders and looking for ways to accomplish it.

Poppy has been a regular at her father’s games over the last several years, and on Wednesday, April 9, she even had the opportunity to play some golf herself when McIlroy took her onto the course. Poppy has been a fan of her father’s games for quite some time.
A video that went viral showed the little girl, who was only four years old at the time, hitting the golf ball. As the ball slowly made its way into the hole, she received a hearty shout from the audience and a bear embrace from her father.
A video of the remarkable putt was uploaded to the official ESPN X account, along with a message that said, “Perfect speed on the putt from Rory McIlroy’s daughter Poppy 🙌 #themasters.”
At a press conference for the Masters on Thursday, McIlroy shared with reporters the tale of the moment his daughter learned she did not have the typical father. McIlroy has always been open and honest about the love bond he has with his daughter.
Despite the fact that it is “really cool” that he is now able to share this with his kid, McIlroy said that it is also “a little scary” at the same time.
“The day after the Players, she went to school, and there were a couple of kids who had said some things to her. She came home to me that day and said, ‘Daddy, are you famous?’ There were both of them. And I responded by saying, ‘It depends on who you speak to,'” he said. Consequently, it is something of a sword with two edges. It’s important to remember that sometimes you have to modify your expectations, but she is… an incredible addition to life, and it’s wonderful that she is here this week.
