The first audition week of Britain’s Got Talent 2015 began with an act that would live long in the memory: Marc Métral and Wendy, his talking dog. Her performance was genuinely remarkable. As the two individuals ascended the stage, the crowd and the judges were both overwhelmed with a sense of anticipation and interest. On the other hand, what came next was a performance that would indelibly mark the history of Britain’s Got Talent.
By way of introduction, Marc, a superb ventriloquist, presented Wendy, his brilliant and very gifted dog, who was not your typical canine companion. Wendy, with her deep eyes and eager smile, seemed to have a life of her own when Marc started to ask her questions, which, in turn, prompted her to react in a manner that had the whole auditorium in fits of laughter.
“Wendy, what is your least favorite dish to eat?” The question was posed by Marc, and Wendy “spoke” her answer in a voice that was eerily human-like, saying, “Sausages!” after a few seconds of hesitation.
There was a roar of amusement from the audience, but Marc was not finished. As he resumed his conversation with Wendy, he inquired of her, “Wendy, do you like Simon Cowell?” Wendy’s response, which was so unexpected that even Simon was taken aback by it, was, “He’s grumpy!” Everyone in the crowd and the judges were in fits of laughter as a result of this clever interaction, with Simon laughing more than anybody could have anticipated.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before!” Amanda Holden said, displaying an obvious manifestation of amusement. “Wendy is absolutely hilarious, and Marc, you are beyond brilliant!” Alesha Dixon continued by saying, “This is exactly what Britain’s Got Talent is all about—surprising us with something that is so unique and so entertaining.”
A last joke was performed by Wendy at the conclusion of the show. Marc asked her if she could do a trick, and Wendy reacted by saying, “I can talk, what else do you want?” People in the crowd applauded and gave Marc and Wendy a standing ovation, which they really earned.
“I wasn’t sure at first, but that was absolutely brilliant,” Simon Cowell, who is notorious for his harsh criticism, remarked with a huge grin on his face. When it comes to the acts that we’ve ever had on this program, you and Wendy are among the most original.
Marc and Wendy were able to move to the following round after receiving four yeses from the judges. They rapidly became favorites among the audience. It was one of the most talked-about moments of the season, and it demonstrated that when it comes to ability, there are no limits—even for a dog. Their audition was one of the examples of this.
