When a homeless man saw a check for $10,800 on a street corner, he made the decision to return it by phoning the number that was printed on the reverse of the check. This decision had a significant impact on his life. A guy named Elmer Alvarez had been living on the streets in New Haven.
Following his struggle with heroin addiction, he found himself without a house and resided in Connecticut for a number of years. In spite of the challenges he had throughout that challenging era of addiction, he was able to successfully stop for good. In spite of this, he persisted in his practice of begging the streets.

While he was out taking a walk one day, he stumbled across a check that was lying on the ground. The check was for the amount of $10,800. In spite of the fact that he had nothing, he made the decision to contact the phone number that was printed on the back of the item and return it to its owner.
Roberta, the owner of the check, arrived to Elmer’s location in a short amount of time. Although she had anticipated that she would find a fellow professional returning her check, she was surprised to see that it was a homeless guy.
The moment Roberta realized that Elmer was without a home, she quickly promised him a prize, which led Elmer to instantly break down in tears. Roberta spoke up and stated, “It shattered the stereotypes,” referring to the fact that a homeless guy who had nothing returned such a huge cheque to her.
However, Roberta was able to empathize with Elmer’s predicament. However, at one point in her life, she was a homeless single mother herself. She is now the owner of a firm that is worth many millions of dollars.
Roberta recounted a period when she was a young mother growing up in poverty. At that time, she and her kid had nowhere to reside, and she had just four hundred dollars to her name. She had been able to turn her life around with the assistance of a kind individual.
It was because of that act of compassion that she was able to become the successful person that she is today. She resolved that she would one day be able to repay everyone who had helped her. For the duration of Elmer’s recovery, Roberta not only helped him locate a suitable apartment but also paid his rent for a period of seven months. In addition to that, she named him to the board of directors and enrolled him in her Real Estate Development School.
