oing into the fourth episode of Season 27’s Blind Auditions, John Legend was the only Coach on The Voice who still had a Replay in their back pocket. He joked that it would be difficult to utilize the replay since he is “always correct” the first time around. However, he had not yet considered Antonio Ramsey at the time.
It was revealed by Ramsey that his primary occupation is that of a dancer; yet, The Voice is, of course, all about voices. Despite the fact that Host Carson Daly encouraged him to concentrate on the singing, he couldn’t help but move about when he was playing Bobby Brown’s “Every Little Step.” It was not a powerful enough vocal performance for anybody to flip their chair, despite the fact that the crowd was into it and the coaches were having a good time since Michael Bublé and Adam Levine were even singing to each other.
“I love that song!” In spite of the fact that Bublé noted that it was a “difficult” song, Levine informed Ramsey that he had been a little bit pitchy. The Coaches were in agreement with this assessment. While praising his “depth [and] richness,” Legend said that the song was not the ideal display for it. He then asked Ramsey what other mid-tempo song he might have selected instead. He suggested, “Sing a little bit,” and I agreed.
On the spur of the moment, Ramsey performed a few bars of “Knockin’ da Boots” by H-Town, and that was the moment that clinched the deal. Legend stated in a nonchalant manner, “Okay, let’s do this,” while simultaneously hitting his button and using his Replay. And with that, Antonio Ramsey became a member of Team Legend in an official capacity.
Regarding The Voice, what is the new regulation regarding the Coach Replay?
“When the Audition is over, you have a second chance to go back and get that Artist by pressing your button,” Daly said to the Coaches at the debut of Season 26. “You still have the opportunity to get that Artist.” For the purpose of the Blind Auditions, each Coach is provided with one, which enables them to retroactively turn for an Artist even after the performance has been completed.
In related news, here are all of the coach replays from the blind auditions for The Voice season 27.
In the previous season, all four Replays were used to rescue Artists who had not been given any turns. However, in the next season, new Coach Kelsea Ballerini came up with an innovative use for the Replays. However, after hearing a little bit more about Dan Kiernan’s tale, Ballerini recognized that she wanted him on her team and that she should have clicked her button. Dan Kiernan had received chair turns from both Michael Bublé and John Legend. To her great relief, she was in possession of the Replay, which she used to throw her hat into the ring, and Kiernan ended up joining Team Kelsea!
