Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, has landed a new, historic position as a host on Fox News.

The New York Times was the first to reveal that Lara, 42, who is married to Trump’s second son, Eric, would start presenting a new weekend program on Fox News on February 22.

According to a Fox News Channel news release, My View with Lara Trump will run on Saturdays from 9 to 10 p.m. ET.

The statement says, “The program will include thought leader interviews and big picture analysis every week, bringing light to the headlines that are influencing families nationwide and driving the national conversation.”

Lara has previously worked for Fox News. She became a paid contributor to the network in March 2021. After Trump said he will run for president a third time in 2024, she departed in December 2022.

While Lara is the first known member of a sitting president’s family to host a television show, several other political relatives have also entered the media over the years, such as Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; Meghan McCain, daughter of late Senator John McCain; and Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush.

As the first time a current president’s family has hosted a program, Fox News Channel said it is excited to have Lara join the network.

In the announcement, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott referred to Lara as “a gifted communicator who knows how to connect to the viewers, successful entrepreneur, and working mother.” Scott also stated that Lara’s natural grasp of the American public and current political climate will make her a compelling addition to our weekend lineup.

“I’m excited to bring my voice back to FOX News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great,” Lara said in the announcement. I’m excited to see where this period will take our nation and where this chance will take me as I report on the achievements of the Golden Age of America.

Lara knows a lot about Republican politics. She co-chaired the Republican National Committee during her father-in-law’s most recent presidential campaign and continued to do so until the 2024 election.

The New York Times reports that she resigned from her job in January.

Lara formerly worked for Trump as a campaign consultant throughout his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns. She also produced Inside Edition for a number of years.

During 2014, Lara married Eric. The couple, who have two children together—a girl named Carolina Dorothy and a boy named Eric “Luke” Jr.—met six years before via mutual acquaintances.
