Saquon Barkley gets engaged!
Barkley, 27, tells PEOPLE exclusively that he and his girlfriend, Anna Congdon, who have two children together, are engaged. This news comes as he and the Philadelphia Eagles go to the Super Bowl in New Orleans as he featured in an advertisement for the delicious snack Flipz.
The NFL player adds, “Without her assistance, I wouldn’t be able to be the athlete I am or achieve the success I have in my career.” “She has been incredibly supportive and has always been there for me, not just in football but in all aspects of life, which can be very complicated.” However, as we continue to develop and mature and go through life together, we continue to become closer and improve even more.
Barkley says, “And it’s a beautiful thing because we have two amazing children that we were raised it and we just sit back and laugh sometimes when they’re over there playing and just smile and think about where everything started.”
Barkley and Congdon, who met at Penn State University and have been in a relationship since 2017, had their first child, a girl named Jada, in April 2018. In September 2022, they had their second child, a boy named Saquon Jr.
“Now we have a six-year-old who is about to turn seven and thinks he knows everything, and then there’s our son who is just a boy who loves toys, trucks, and cars.” He enjoys fighting and playing football. Barkley tells PEOPLE, “So we treasure all of those moments.”
“I would be foolish to believe that I have achieved everything on my own and that all of the things we have accomplished this year were done without help.”
Barkley and his fiancée, together with their two daughters, are filming a delightful commercial for Flipz, a snack that the whole family loves, at their house in Philadelphia. While they are filming, Barkley tells PEOPLE about his engagement. He chuckles and says, “Yeah, we’re in the basement trying to keep them quiet.”
Barkley says of Flipz, “I have been eating them for a really long time.” “This snack is excellent. It is certainly a wonderful combination of sweet and salty. I don’t know if you can think of a finer snack than this one. It’s nice to see that my kids enjoy it too, especially because I grew up eating it and now I’m an adult with children of my own.
Barkley’s presence in Super Bowl LIX also occurs on the running back’s 28th birthday. Barkley tells PEOPLE that he is in “Super Bowl mode” and that his major goal is beating the Chiefs in the week coming up to the big game.
“The best birthday gift you can receive is playing in the Super Bowl, and the only thing that could be better than that is winning the Super Bowl on your birthday.” Therefore, plans that are made before or after…I have no notion what to do or any strategy at all. My main priority is getting out there and playing this game, and I am hoping to keep playing at a high level.
