For Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, his Broadway debut was very significant.

On Tuesday, January 28, the comedian took his first bow in All In: Comedy About Love, a show by Simon Rich. Afterward, he shared a video with PEOPLE in which he spoke about the experience while backstage at the Hudson Theatre in New York City. In the video, he also gave a heartfelt shout-out to his late mother, Gloria.

“Broadway is a part of New York.” Fallon, who is 50 years old, said, “I am a native New Yorker, and I have always been a part of my life growing up.” “It is almost like a sixth borough.” This is New York. So being here is very, really great.

He went on to say, “My mom was always a big fan of Broadway.” “She would be really proud if she were here.”

In November 2017, Gloria passed away at the age of 68. Fallon told PEOPLE, “Today, I lost my biggest fan,” at that time.

Fallon’s time on Broadway in All In is rather short. The Saturday Night Live star, who is performing in the production with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Aidy Bryant, and Nick Kroll, will finish on February 2.

Rich, a former writer for Saturday Night Live, is the humorist behind the original tales about romance, heartache, marriage, and other topics that are included in the play, which is directed by Alex Timbers. The Bengsons (Abigail and Shaun Bengson) sing songs from the band The Magnetic Fields in between tales.

Since the beginning, the production has been headed by an all-star, rotating ensemble. The performance opened in December with John Mulaney, Fred Armisen, Richard Kind, and Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry.

Andrew Rannells and Chloe Fineman are two more celebs who have made appearances. The production will run for ten weeks, ending on February 16. David Cross will be joining the cast from February 4 to February 9, Annaleigh Ashford (who won a Tony Award) will be joining from February 4 to February 16, Tim Meadows will be joining from February 4 to February 16, and Hank Azaria will be joining from February 11 to February 16.

Fallon will be enjoying the event till his time is up.

After the premiere, he commented, “It is so exciting!” “I feel a little tired and worn out because you get so anxious about the part that you play.” And you ask, “Did I hurry it up?” Did I do it too quickly? It’s like riding the best, most enjoyable roller coaster and wanting to do it again. It encompasses everything.

Tickets for All In are now available for purchase.
