Since he began his career as a vocalist in 1961, Rod Stewart has been active in the entertainment industry for many decades. The singer entertained his followers by releasing a large number of albums throughout the course of his career and appearing at a diverse range of music venues around the globe.

However, as time goes on, the singer’s primary adversary is his physical body since he has suffered with a few medical issues. This has caused his fans to worry if he would still continue his flourishing career or whether he will quit for the sake of improving his health.

According to CNN Entertainment, the British rocker was present in England in 2019 at a fundraiser event for the Prostate Project and the European Tour Foundation.

When the performer addressed the audience at the time, many in attendance were taken aback by his announcement when he disclosed that he had been afflicted with prostate cancer for the previous three years.

The musician, who was 74 years old at the time, revealed to his guests that he received the diagnosis during a regular check-up in the year 2016. He specified that he had already made a full recovery from the disease at the time, and the reason why it did not get any more severe was due to the fact that it was detected at an early stage and he was subjected to a number of tests.

Later that evening, he advised other guys to be tested on a regular basis so that they may determine whether or not they had the same condition as him. He said that if the results came back positive, it would boost their chances of survival.

In March of 2023, many Stewart’s fans were dismayed when the musician announced through his official Instagram account that he would not be performing at “A Day On The Green” in Australia as planned with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens because of a “infection.” The performance was set to go place with Stewart, Lauper, and Stevens.

In addition to the health problems that were discussed before, in the year 2000, he was given a diagnosis of a frightening kind of thyroid cancer that came dangerously close to robbing him of his ability to speak. According to Express, Patrick Stewart disclosed his surprise in an interview with ABC in which he said, “It was a terrible shock.” I mean, I simply stopped talking altogether for the last three days.”

Because he was in excellent form and had been consistently exercising at the time, he did not anticipate receiving such a diagnosis. This was one of the reasons why he was taken aback by the news.

“I was clearly as fit as a butcher’s dog — working out every day, doing shows, and still playing weekend football,” he wrote for the Daily Mail. “I was clearly as fit as a butcher’s dog.”

Moving ahead in time to June 2023, the Daily Mail ran a story in which it was stated by a “close friend of a family” that Stewart’s children are concerned about their father’s health and wanted him to withdraw entirely from the music business.

The source said that some of his children believe that it is time for him to “throw in the towel on music” so that he may concentrate on his retirement and his family, particularly following the birth of his third grandson in the world.

After the piece was widely shared on the internet, Stewart used his official Instagram account to clear up any misunderstandings that may have arisen over his retirement.

A quote from the musician can be seen in the post, and it reads, “I shall never retire!” He said that he “was put on this earth to be a singer and will keep doing so for as long as the good Lord lets me.” as the basis for his decision.

It would seem that the singer has huge things in store for the future since he just shared with his audience that immediately after the conclusion of his current tour, he will begin working on new songs that he is really excited to release to the general public.

In an interview with People Magazine that was published on June 23, 2023, Stewart discussed his intentions for the foreseeable future, and it would seem that he has no intention of leaving his current position. Throughout his career, the artist was most well-known for his rock n’ roll music; but, he recently disclosed that he is ready to temporarily leave it behind and begin a new musical period that his followers have never heard from him before.

During the talk, Stewart said that he was interested in moving on to swing music and the “Great American Song Book,” but he made it clear that he would never forget the old rock ‘n’ roll songs that his followers have known and loved for decades.

“I might bring them out on the odd occasion, but I basically would like to put them to rest for a little while,” he added. “I might bring them out on the odd occasion.”

However, he said that there would be no more “big tours” in the future since he has already said his goodbyes to some of the nations that he cherished the most, such as Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. During the time of the interview, he was getting ready for a tour, and he explained to the publication how he keeps his voice in such good shape when performing live.

“A couple of hours singing a few days before these shows start,” he remarked. “That should be enough.”

In the same way that he used to do it in the 2000s, Stewart enjoys keeping a healthy lifestyle by exercising in the form of swimming during his leisure time. This habit dates back to the 2000s. In addition to that, he would also train and work out at least four times a week, and he would say things like, “I work out extensively, but I’m generally very fit.”
