Kevin Costner, happy birthday!
On Saturday, January 18, the actor-director celebrated his 70th birthday by posting a flashback picture of himself as a youngster on Instagram.
Costner started his remark with, “Thank you guys for the birthday wishes.” He included a black and white photo of himself as a toddler dressed in cowboy attire.
“This is me, if you can believe it.” He said, “I have been pursuing the cowboy lifestyle since I was able to walk, and here I am still doing it.”
Costner went on to say, “Here’s to another year of keeping our sights set on our dreams.”
According to a source close to Costner, who spoke to PEOPLE before his birthday, the actor is “in a good place and having fun with his family and friends.”
The informant also said that Costner is not in a relationship at the moment. They claimed, “He is not in a serious relationship with anyone and is not actively seeking anything more than that at the moment.”
The Oscar winner has had a busy year, achieving success both on and off the screen in cinema and television.
In June 2024, Costner stated that he was leaving Yellowstone’s season 5B. He also celebrated directing, writing, and acting in the Western epic Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.
On May 19, the picture had its debut at the 77th annual Cannes picture Festival, when it was met with a standing ovation that lasted 10 minutes.
After the film received acclaim, Costner brushed away a tear and gave a statement. During the speech, he said that he would “never forget” his experience at the festival.
Costner chatted with PEOPLE shortly after the festival debut about how his long career led to the conception of the project.
“I can say that I have had a wonderful life.” “I’ve been bruised, but I have had a wonderful life, and I am thankful for that,” he remarked. “My life has been very strange, but for the most part, it has been beautiful.”
He also expressed gratitude to his family for their constant support during his journey, saying that his seven children are the “anchor” of his life. Costner has three daughters: Annie, who is 40 years old; Lily, who is 38 years old; and Grace, who is 14 years old. He also has four sons: Joe, who is 36 years old; Liam, who is 28 years old; Cayden, who is 17 years old; and Hayes, who is 15 years old.
He remarked, “They know that I have this chosen work, but honestly, I’m really clear about where my responsibility absolutely lies at the end of the day.”
Costner went on to say, “They are like shooting stars.” “My life consists of driving up and down the freeway, trying to get the kids to where they think they need to be. But that’s part of the job.”
