A performance by Carrie Underwood is scheduled to take place during the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
The former American Idol contestant will give a performance on Monday, January 20, at the event that will mark the inauguration of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States of America. This information was verified to PEOPLE by a spokeswoman for the Presidential Inaugural Committee on January 13.
In response to a request for comment made by People, a representative for Underwood did not immediately answer.
For many years, the country artist has maintained the confidentiality of her political beliefs.
According to Underwood, who was interviewed by The Guardian in 2019, she has the impression that “more people try to pin me places politically.”
She went on to say at the time, “I try to stay as far away from politics as possible, at least in public, because nobody wins.” “It seems insane. Everyone makes an effort to summarize everything and put a good ribbon on it, as if it were a black and white situation. In addition, it is not like that.”
It was assumed by some of her admirers that her song “The Bullet” from 2018 was a political message.
It didn’t take long for others to comment, saying, “Oh, you have a song about gun control!” When asked about the first reaction, she described it as “more about the lives that were changed by something terrible happening.” She made this statement to The Guardian. “And it does kind of irritate me when people try to pigeonhole me or force me to pick a side or something by using a song or something I said as an example. The situations are frustrating.” It’s a conversation, and it’s a lengthy one.”
“You can blame it on hate or blame it on guns / But mamas ain’t supposed to bury their sons,” she says in the opening stanza of the musical composition. “Left a hole in her heart and it still ain’t done / The bullet keeps on goin.'”

Jackie Evancho, a contestant on America’s Got Talent, the Radio City Rockettes, the Missouri State University Chorale, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir all gave performances during the inauguration of Donald Trump in 2017. His pre-inauguration event included performances by a variety of artists, including Lee Greenwood, Three Doors Down, Toby Keith, and The Piano Guys, among others.
More than seven years have passed since Underwood and fellow country singer Brad Paisley made fun of President Trump when they were presenting the 2017 Country Music Association Awards together. Underwood’s involvement in the event marks her first time doing so. The cohosts performed a spoof of Carrie Underwood’s classic song “Before He Cheats,” in which the words of the iconic chorus were replaced with the phrase “before he tweets.”
During their performance at the Country Music Awards, the two individuals sang, “And it’s fun to watch, yeah, that’s for sure / ‘Til little Rocket Man starts a nuclear war.” “Perhaps the next time, he will give some thought to what he tweets.”
