It has been announced that Olivia Hussey, who was best recognized for her role as Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic drama “Romeo and Juliet” from 1968, has passed away.
According to a long statement on her Instagram page, the actress passed away on Friday at her home, surrounded by her family. However, the cause of loss of the actress was not disclosed.
A portion of the news that was made on Instagram was as follows: “Olivia was a remarkable person whose warmth, wisdom, and pure kindness touched the lives of all those who knew her.”

Despite being just 15 years old at the time, Hussey was able to win a Golden Globe for her performance as Juliet in the film that went on to win an Academy Award. Her co-star, Leonard Whiting, played Romeo.
On the other hand, the movie was not without its share of controversy, as it included a sequence in which Olivia and Leonard were shown naked, despite the fact that both of them were under the age of 18 at the time of production. In the beginning of this year, the performers brought back a lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and Criterion Collections about the distribution of the sequence; however, the claim was dropped in October.

The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, and after undergoing a mastectomy, the disease went into remission. However, in 2018, she disclosed to Express that a new tumor had developed.
Her lifelong husband, David Glen Eisley, her three children, Alex, Max, and India, and her grandson, Greyson, are the only members of Hussey’s family to survive her passing.
Her age was 73.
