The famed ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in “The Wizard of Oz” have successfully found a new owner, as they were sold over the weekend for a record-breaking number of $32.5 million!!!

The slippers that Judy wore in the classic picture that was released in 1939 are one of just four pairs that have survived from the production of the film. Sotheby’s, which facilitated the sale on Saturday, received a great deal of interest in the item due to its legendary history and characteristic red sequins. The person who placed the winning offer goes unnamed.

The Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, was the location where the slippers were taken in 2005, and they remained missing for more than a decade after that. During an undercover operation conducted by the FBI in 2018, they were found and retrieved.

The transaction broke the previous records for Hollywood memorabilia, which had been held by Marilyn Monroe’s Seven Year Itch outfit, which had been sold for $4.6 million in 2011.

One pair of ruby slippers is permanently housed at the Smithsonian Institution, while the other three pairs, including the pair that was sold at auction, are held in private collections.
