Who doesn’t swoon over a sweet and charming love story? Regrettably, in real life — and particularly in Hollywood — relationships often have a limited shelf life, and it might seem like it’s difficult to find someone who really loves you. To our great relief, however, there are examples of individuals who have been able to triumph over challenges and track down the partner with whom they are destined to spend the rest of their lives.

As an actor, Zooey Deschanel is most recognized for her leading role as Jessica “Jess” Day in the television series “New Girl.” In addition to that, she has been in a number of critically acclaimed films, such as “Elf,” “Failure to Launch,” “Yes Man,” and “500 Days of Summer.” Deschanel has also shown her talent in the musical realm by performing songs and playing a variety of instruments, including the ukulele and the piano.

Between the years 2009 and 2012, Deschanel was married to Ben Gibbard, who is the main singer for the bands Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Afterward, Deschanel married film producer Jacob Pechenik in 2015. In July of the same year, the couple had a girl, and then two years later, in May of 2017, they welcomed a boy.

However, Deschanel and Pechenik revealed their decision to split up at the end of 2019, and the divorce was formalized during the summer of the following year. The actress met the “Property Brothers” actor Jonathan Scott around this period, and the two of them started dating not long after the breakup of Deschanel’s previous relationship with Pechenik.

Jonathan is most recognized for his appearances with his twin brother, Drew Scott, in a variety of reality television series in which the two men play the role of building contractors. Other shows that have been spawned from their original series include “Brother vs. Brother” and “Property Brothers: At Home.”

It would seem that everyone gets along extremely well in the blended family, as Deschanel has even shared images on her Instagram account demonstrating how Jonathan has enthusiastically taken on the role of “bonus dad” to her and Pechenik’s children.

Since beginning their relationship, actors Zooey Deschanel of “New Girl” and Jonathan Scott of “Property Brothers” have merged their personal lives as well as the lives of their respective families. According to TODAY, the couple had their first meeting in 2019 while working on the set of “Carpool Karaoke.” They made their relationship public in October of that same year, shortly after Deschanel filed for divorce from her spouse at the time.

The marriage between Deschanel and Pechenik came to an end as time went on, but the relationship between Deschanel and Jonathan continued to flourish. Deschanel also participated in a season of “Brother vs. Brother” with the Scott brothers, during which she purchased and remodeled their house in the Los Angeles area.

But the most significant development in their life has been the introduction of Jonathan as a second father figure to Deschanel’s children, whom she shares parental responsibilities with Pechenik. Elsie, who is seven, and Charlie, who is five, are Deschanel and Pechenik’s children from a previous marriage. Jonathan feels as if he has had one of the most rewarding experiences as a result of this opportunity.

Jonathan said, “I always knew I would be a great dad; I’m a former clown, I’m a magician, and I can build stuff,” and he described the experience as “incredible.” “You see your life alter, and your priorities become your kids. And when they have a performance that they’re doing at school, or when they’re working on some of their schoolwork, or whatever it may be, it’s a delight.” [Case in point:] “You see your life transform.

The building contractor said that he and his girlfriend “enjoy every minute” of co-parenting Deschanel’s children with her “wonderful” ex-partner, Pechenik. Deschanel’s children are believed to have a “wonderful” father. Additionally, the children have acknowledged Jonathan’s place as a member of their extended family.

“The first time I realized (we had a connection) was when our youngest came home from school with a picture that he had drawn,” Jonathan recounted. “In the picture, he has Mommy and Daddy and Jonathan and his sister and our puppies.” “That was the first time I realized (we had a connection).” “He was the one who drew this whole artwork. This is the joyful family that he has.

Jonathan continued by saying, “I think that was when I was like, that’s pretty sweet, because the way that we think of it, he has the benefit of a ‘bonus dad.'” That is very awesome to hear. You have a greater number of individuals who adore you.

Back in November 2019, Jonathan discussed how much he was already loving his role as a bonus father to Deschanel’s children as they were in West Hollywood for the Baby2Baby gala. Jonathan and Deschanel were there to support the organization. He said:

“I adore it. Simply sit there doing nothing, and they will come over, give you a huge embrace, and say something extremely beautiful to you. All you have to do is do nothing. That was completely out of left field, but I’ll take it if you offer!

Deschanel has been overjoyed to see how much her family has accepted Jonathan, and she has been just as excited to watch how Jonathan has stepped up to become a stepfather figure to her children. Jonathan has been a huge source of joy for Deschanel. She referred to him as “the best step-dad” and praised Jonathan as someone who is “very highly qualified for the job.”

In June of 2022, Deschanel uploaded a picture on Instagram that was just appropriate for summing up the dynamic of her mixed family. In the photograph, Jonathan, Pechenik, Elsie, and Charlie could be seen spending some quality time together in the fresh air. While one of Deschanel’s children sat on Jonathan’s shoulders, the other of Deschanel’s children sat atop Pechenik’s shoulders. Jonathan and Pechenik were both carrying Deschanel’s children. Deschanel said in the post’s caption:

“So glad that my children’s lives are enriched by the presence of these two incredible individuals, @jonathanscott and their dad @jacobpechenik.

The appearance of such a close-knit familial unit delighted the audience. A remark was made by someone that said, “Awesome dads..” Someone another chimed up and stated, “That will make for a happy child.” Another individual chimed in and said, “Congratulations, all of you, on being adults!” I adore my multigenerational family, too!
