It is with great emotion that Zayn Malik is paying homage to Liam Payne.
On Friday, November 29, Malik, who is 31 years old, paid tribute to Payne by dedicating his song “It’s You” to the late singer as he was performing his Stairway to the Sky Tour in Wolverhampton, England, which was the hometown of the late artist. In addition, he spoke about his late former bandmate, who passed away on October 16th, for the first time in public. He gave a few words about him.
The audience replied with a big applause when Malik said, “So I’ve been doing something at the end of the show every night and it is being dedicated to my brother Liam Payne,” in a video that was uploaded by a fan on X (which was then known as Twitter).
Continuing, Malik said to Payne, “May you rest in peace. I really hope you are aware of this. Tonight, we are in Wolverhampton, which is probably your hometown. It is for you, Liam, to take. And here’s still another song, titled “It’s You.”
Payne passed away on October 16 at the age of 31, after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had fallen numerous storeys on the balcony.
On November 23, Malik paid homage to the late singer Payne during the opening concert of his Stairway to the Sky Tour, which took place at the O2 Academy in Leeds, England. This is the latest tribute that Malik has paid to Payne. With the passing of Payne, this was also the first concert that Malik had done since his passing.
The song “Stardust” by Malik was playing at the time when the performance was coming to a close, and a message regarding Payne showed on a giant screen.
The message was shown over a blue backdrop with a red heart, and it stated “Liam Payne 1993-2024, Love you bro.” The message was caught by fans during the emotional moment and uploaded on X.
Malik made the announcement on October 19 that he will be delaying his tour dates in the United States as a result of Payne’s tragic passing.
During that time period, the musician known for his song “Dusk ‘Till Dawn” said on his Instagram Stories that he would be postponing the gigs because “given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week,” he made the announcement. Adding, “I love each and every one of you, and I am grateful for your comprehension.”
It has been decided that Malik will begin his tour of the United States by performing the opening concert of his tour in Washington on January 21, 2025. This will be followed by two gigs at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. After that, he will do performances in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and then on February 3, 2025, he will bring his presentations to a close in San Francisco.
