It is Cynthia Erivo’s opinion that her talon nails do not interfere with her ability to do her restroom chores.
During her appearance on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman to discuss Wicked, Shepard posed a question to Erivo, 37, inquiring as to whether or not her long talon nails made it difficult to clean her behind after using the restroom. Not soon after Shepard, who is 49 years old, had finished asking the question, the Oscar contender was well aware of what was about to happen.
The statement was made by her, “I knew you would ask that question,” and she went on to say that “no one’s afraid” to ask it.
Erivo stated, “My response is that nobody uses just their fingers to wipe their rear end,” when asked about the topic. “You do make use of tissue, right? As for you, you rub!
Next, Shepard rephrased the question he had asked. Before his voice trailed off, he said, “Does the tissue go on the tip of the fingernails, or do you try to get the tissue?” After that, he stopped talking. “Pads of the fingers,” Erivo referred to them.
“Great, great, great, now we’re getting somewhere,” Shepard exclaimed. “It’s great, great, great.” If that’s the case, are you merely experiencing the little tingling sensation of your nails on the crack of your butt occasionally?
According to Erivo, this is not the case since she makes use of tissues often.
Following the lighthearted statement that he would fashion a glove out of toilet paper if he had nails like Erivo’s, Shepard inquired as to whether or not the inquiry had caused her to feel insulted or upset.
“I find it quite annoying. I’m like, ‘Come on, people,'” she said. As Erivo noted. To which I respond, “But I get it, but it’s also like, ‘I’m a functioning adult, and I’ve never walked around smelling like, you know…”
Therefore, Shepard was of the opinion that since everyone believes that Erivo is selling “so good, it begs the question, ‘How are you wiping your tush?'”
As Padman, 37, said that the question is probably a reflection of the individuals asking since they were unable to properly clean with nails like Erivo’s, Erivo responded, “Very well.” Padman elaborated on the fact that the question was asked.
“Here’s the thing, there are people who do not have nails who need to check how they are wiping,” Erivo said. “It’s important to be aware of this.”
Erivo made a joke about how people ask her how she manages to get anything done with her nails before moving on to the next topic they were discussing. It was then when she remarked, “And I’m like, ‘I mean, I’m here!'” The phrase “I’m dressed”
During the tour that Erivo is on to promote Wicked with Ariana Grande, her talon nails have been on show for spectators to see. Erivo, who portrays Elphaba, and Grande, who brings Glinda to life, often wear outfits that are a reflection of their respective on-screen roles.
On Friday, November 22nd, Wicked will make its debut. On November 21, 2025, the second installment, Wicked Part Two, will be released. Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Keala Settle are among the well-known actors who appear in the film, which was directed by Jon M. Chu.
