“The diagnosis of breast cancer had been communicated to my wife. As the Forrest Gump actor recounts, “My son was diagnosed with this extremely rare cancer… within two months of each other.” Mac, the actor’s son, passed away in January at the age of 33.

According to Gary Sinise, his family is battling cancer, and he is talking out about it.

The actor said in an interview with Fox News Digital that he put his acting career on hold and relocated his family from Los Angeles to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2021. This was in response to the fact that both his wife and kid were diagnosed with cancer at the same time.

“We were in the cancer fight during that time,” Sinise, who is 69 years old, said of the transfer across the county at the time.

Sinise told Fox News that he made the decision to take a vacation from his work in 2019 in order to assist his family after receiving a diagnosis of cancer in 2018. The Forrest Gump star’s wife Moira and son McCanna “Mac” were both diagnosed with separate types of cancer in 2018.

“The diagnosis of breast cancer had been communicated to my wife. He remembered that his kid had been diagnosed with this very unusual kind of cancer within a span of two months of each other. Because my father had just had a stroke, my mother was alone herself, and it was my responsibility to take care of her. Quite frankly, I had a lot on my plate.”

Sinise’s wife has been declared cancer-free, but in January, his son Mac passed away in a sad accident. He was 33 years old.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Mac was diagnosed with chordoma, which is an uncommon kind of bone cancer that often manifests itself in the bones of the skull or the spine.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Sinise describes the fight that his kid fought against the uncommon illness as “especially difficult.”

“Our son was fighting this cancer with no cure,” he added in response. It was like having a full-time job trying to locate medications and physicians or anybody else who might help him in any way with his condition. In addition to this, as time went on, the cancer made him more and more unable to function normally. He required an increasing amount of attention.

In spite of the difficult path that Mac had to go with cancer, Sinise said that his son, who was a musician, was “happy at the end of his life.”

When it comes to Mac and the record that he released the previous year, I will say this… “He had accomplished something that he had set out to do, which was to record all of this music in May and make a full album of it… that brought me a lot of joy… just watching him kind of enjoy those moments,” he added. “He had accomplished whatever he had set out to do.”

In the aftermath of his son’s loss, Sinise is contributing to the preservation of Mac’s legacy by disseminating songs that his son had not yet published. On November 10, which would have been Mac’s 34th birthday, the second installment of Resurrection & Revival began arriving earlier this week.

Late in the month of October, Sinise made the announcement that the album will be released by posting a post on Instagram at the time.

An album that was developed from the songs of my son Mac is called Resurrection and Revival: Part 2, and I am deeply touched to share the presale launch of this album with you, my friends. Following Mac’s passing on January 5, I started browsing through his archives and found a great deal of exquisite compositions that he had never shared before,” he said. “With the help of his dear friend Oliver Schnee and some of Mac’s talented musician pals, we’ve been able to bring these pieces to life.”

When Sinise was being interviewed by Fox News Digital about the album, she said, “This has been a real labor of very deep love.” As a result of the fact that I was not even aware that he had a significant portion of this music until I found it on… his computers.

Additionally, Sinise is a musician who plays with his band, which is known as the Lt. Dan Band. Prior to his demise, he shared the stage with Mac performances.

To put it simply, he is an outstanding drummer. It was always a lot of fun to play with him since he is so sturdy, not to mention that he is incredibly solid. As he reflected on the “beautiful” music that his son had created, which included music for his charity, the Gary Sinise Foundation, as well as documentaries and movies, he told Fox News Digital that his son just has a natural ability.

“I just started listening to this stuff that he’d written for the movie, and I was very, very moved by it,” said Sinise in response. “I started discovering all this other music that he’d written and tucked away that I never knew about … that he never told me about.”
