In recent years, the Internet has been home to a proliferation of dares and challenges, such as the one in which a buddy is supposed to dump a large bucket of cold water on the participant’s head. One dare using very powerful magnets that a lot of kids have been attempting doesn’t count among the less risky dares, but there are still plenty of kids who participate in it. At least a few youngsters have been sent to the emergency room as a result of this challenge.

When Freddie Webster was at school one day, he decided to investigate the magnetic properties of ball bearings. This young man, who was 12 years old at the time, placed one magnetic ball in his mouth and the other ball on the outside of his cheek.

The first time he attempted this task, he was unsuccessful, and as a direct consequence, he ended up choking on two magnetic balls while he was at school. Freddie, on the other hand, was not finished. This accomplishment continued to be a problem for him, and he attempted it several times in the hope of achieving success.

Four magnetic balls were successfully consumed by him in total.

Later on that day, Freddie complained to his mother about having a stomachache and mentioned two of the balls to her. She was apprehensive, but she figured that the balls would be expelled from his body in the normal course of events.

The discomfort in his stomach continued to intensify the next day, at which point he was brought to the hospital. An x-ray showed that four magnets had become entangled with one another and were causing significant damage on the inside.

In addition to that, the physician disclosed to Freddie’s mother that four more children had just been admitted to the hospital with the same complaint.

Due to the critical nature of Freddie’s condition, he needed to have an emergency operation in order to have the magnets removed and to treat the inside damage that they had caused. The procedure itself lasted for more than four hours. About ten centimeters worth of his colon had to be removed during the procedure.

Following the surgery, he remained in a stable but critical state and was obliged to stay in the hospital for a period of eight days.

Now, in order to guarantee that his colon and intestines continue to work regularly throughout his whole life, he will need to be under the constant monitoring of a medical professional.
