Grier Henchy, who is 18 years old and is the daughter of Brooke Shields, did not go any farther than her mother’s wardrobe when it came to selecting a dress for her high school graduation in 2024.
According to Shields, the garment she wore to marry tennis great Andre Agassi in 1997 was her first wedding dress. “Her graduation dress was my first wedding dress,” according to Shields.
“We had to rebone it a little bit so that it was tight and sleek,” explains Grier, who is 18 years old and has just begun her first year of college. (She joined her elder sister Rowan, who is 21 years old, in enrolling at Wake Forest University.)
Due to the fact that I did not want it to be poofy, we removed all of the poof. In addition, Shields says, “And we made it sans straps.”
The star, who is 59 years old, continues by saying, “She looked great in it.” “It is a privilege when individuals express interest in wearing your garments. Generally speaking, people do not consider me to be cool.
In this week’s issue of People, Shields and her two children, Rowan and Grier, whose father is Chris Henchy, Shields’ second husband, disclose what life is really like at home, including the fact that they raid their mother’s one-of-a-kind wardrobe.
The fact that Shields is now an empty nester for the first time makes him claim that nothing is off bounds. What Shields has to say about the matter is that “in all honesty, they can wear anything just to have it have another life—you save the stuff and wonder why.” “Is it comparable to a Sotheby’s auction that is on a much larger scale?” It seems quite improbable to me. On the other hand, they are iconic artifacts. As a result, having another life is an amazing feeling.
An outstanding illustration of this is the attire that she wore when she married Agassi, whom she later divorced in 1999. She said, “He’s a good guy, so to me it was really like a big full circle moment,” and she added, “and it honors something, and I think that’s healthy.”
The fact that her daughters are wearing one of her most famous outfits is not a new occurrence. Within the year 2021, Rowan made the decision to attend her high school prom wearing the blazing red dress that was created by Richard Tyler for her mother. The dress had been worn by Brooke back in 1998, when she attended the Golden Globes.
According to Rowan, the following is how she recounts the event: “I was downstairs in New York, rummaging through a bunch of her old outfits, doing a TikTok, and I tried on this red dress.” I didn’t want to go through the hassle of searching for a dress to wear to the prom dress. There was a red outfit that caught my attention, and I thought to myself, “Perhaps we have something here.”
“With the exception of the breasts, it was a good fit for me, and we made some little adjustments to it. “This is perfect, so I’ll just do a Hollywood wave,” she says with a grin.
Shields is pleased with the way that everything turned out. I would want to begin by saying that if it had been my idea, it would have never survived. There would have been a response of “That’s odd.” She walked downstairs, combed through the archives, and independently found the piece of clothing that was one of a kind. I was able to feel incredibly lovely while wearing it, which was a creation of Richard Tyler. On the other hand, the riot act was administered to me by my agency the next day.
“If you wear a red dress, you will never be taken seriously as an actress,” she claims they told her. “They said that you will never be taken seriously.” It was the next year when everyone wore red to the Golden Globes, and I grabbed the PEOPLE spread [of the dress] and tossed it down on their desk, saying, ‘I’m ahead of my time.'” “And I said, ‘I don’t really get how that corresponds,'” she recalled.
