In this frank interview, Tia Mowry discusses the first time in her life that she has ever been by herself.
The actress, who is 46 years old, is seen in a new sneak peek for the forthcoming WE TV series Tia Mowry: My Next Act, opening up about her problematic relationship with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley, as well as her divorce from her ex-husband, Cory Hardrict.
As a result of the fact that I was born with a twin and then immediately after that, I entered into a relationship that lasted for 22 years, I have never been alone in my whole life. In the teaser that was uploaded to YouTube on September 20th, the former cast member of Sister, Sister talks about how the trip has been quite an experience.
“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce,” Tia says, alluding to her recent separation from Hardrict, whom she had been married to for 14 years after the two of them tied the wedding in 2008.
“It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her,” she adds, addressing straight to the camera. “I also wish that we were still close.” “But that’s just not where we are right now.”
In 2022, Tamera complimented her twin sister for how successfully she managed her divorce, telling Entertainment Tonight that “she is living her authentic, true self.” Many fans rushed to social media to express their amazement that the two sisters had grown estranged from each other. This was particularly the case when Tamera praised her twin sister for how well she handled her divorce.
The sneak preview video was accompanied by a remark from a person on YouTube who said, “Well dang, that made my heart sink to know that you and Tamera are not close like y’all used to be.”
Another YouTube user said, “I’m excited for the show,” that they were looking forward to. “It’s sad her & her sister are not close but I hope they are now.”
In the teaser, Tia also discusses her divorce, stating that she grew “tired of people thinking everything was perfect when it wasn’t.” This is another way in which she discusses her divorce.
It is her explanation that “I think I lost me.” “I have this beautiful house, I have amazing kids, but the one thing I don’t have is love.”
“Divorce is about starting over, and you have to learn how to live again,” she explains further.
During another portion of the teaser, Tia discusses her connection to fame and how the general public views her. She reveals that she has been in the public spotlight ever since she was 14 years old.
She explains, “There is a completely different side of me for myself.”
The divorce between Tia and Hardrict, who had a son named Cree who was 13 years old and a daughter named Cairo who was 6 years old, was completed in April 2023, six months after they had announced their separation. With a touching message on Instagram, the Tia & Tamera star made the first announcement of the couple’s decision to end their relationship in October of 2022.
Since the beginning, I have always been truthful with my followers, and today is no exception. “I wanted to let you know that Cory and I have made the decision to go our separate ways,” she wrote at the time. These choices are seldom simple, and they are not often made without feeling unhappy. In the process of co-parenting our lovely children, we will continue to retain our relationship.
She followed by saying, “I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
