In a new stand-up special, Ellen DeGeneres pokes fun at her Hollywood excommunication.
She addressed her fall from glory as the “Be Kind” woman in the Netflix special’s first teaser released Wednesday.
Ellen said in the sneak preview that her show’s motto “Be Kind to One Another” should have been “Go F*** Yourselves” so viewers would be astonished she “was nice.”
Ellen was criticized as “toxic” when her talk show ended two years ago, but she was honest about her confidence issues.
She continued… “I believed making others happy would make them like me. I’ll feel nice if they like me… I just want to thank God for the money!”
In spite of the fact that her show is labeled “For Your Approval,” Ellen’s new gags make it abundantly obvious that she is no longer concerned with what the peanut gallery may say about her.
According to the streamer, the upcoming special that ED is about to release is going to be the “final” one of her career. In it, the comic will be getting more personal than she ever has before as she discusses being “kicked out of show business.”
Following the conclusion of her chat program “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in May 2022, which had aired for a total of 19 seasons, Ellen has made her first significant push into the comedy industry with the new set.
During that time period, Ellen maintained that the charges of a hostile working environment that were made against her and her chat show did not play a role in her decision to quit her hosting job. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said that her thematic series was “just not a challenge anymore.”
Immediately after the conclusion of the program, Ellen took a significant step away from the spotlight, concentrating instead on her domestic life with her wife, Portia de Rossi.
This past summer, she resumed her touring career, and after one of her performances in Santa Rosa, California, she declared to an audience that she is “done” with comedy once this show has completed its run.
It would seem that Ellen is prepared to have the last laugh in relation to her professional life… it is certain to be an unforgettable way to end her career!!!
