Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán, who have been married for more than twenty years, have decided to end their marriage and go their own ways.

On Thursday, August 29, the former King of Queens star, who is 54 years old, and the businesswoman made the announcement that they had decided to break their marriage after 21 years of marriage in a joint Instagram post.

So, here we are, shall we? In the beginning of the announcement, it was said that “we have decided to file for divorce after 28 years of being together and 21 years of being married.” “This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us.”

The message continued by saying, “We are proud of how we have worked through this together.” Even though they are still in the process of figuring out their “new normal,” they have said that they would continue to “celebrate holidays together, watch our favorite television shows together, and gather as a family.”

“So, the most important question is, why? To put it more simply, we both evolved, as people do, and we were used to participating in roles that were no longer appropriate for us. We have made the decision to take this step, which is reflective of who we are at this moment, after putting in a lot of work and giving it a lot of thought,” they added.

The strength of our connection has not diminished; rather, it has developed into something else. We consider it a cause for celebration that our marriage has endured for such a long time and has produced such a large number of wonderful memories, particularly the years spent raising our wonderful daughter. From our point of view, this marriage was a really successful endeavor. In addition, we are looking forward to the possibility of generating even more memories that will be loved, but in a different manner.

The couple, Remini and Pagán, said that they wanted to be “as transparent as we can be” since they had discussed their marriage “so publicly” on television during the course of their marriage.

“We are sharing this unknown territory with you all as we take our first steps into this next stage of our lives publicly,” according to the subsequent statement. When it comes to managing the changes that millions of couples go through each year, we would love it if everyone had better access to diverse sorts of relationship tales and did not feel as alone as they do. We hope that people will be able to recognize that relationships, regardless of whether they evolve or terminate, are not failures as a result of our experience. In the course of navigating this new chapter, we will continue to share bits and pieces of our life.

Pagán was playing at El Floridita, a Cuban bar and restaurant in Los Angeles, in 1996, when the actress began her relationship with him for the first time.

Later on, in 2003, the couple tied the knot, and on June 16, 2004, they became parents to a girl named Sofia Bella. Angelo Jr., Alex, and Nico are Pagán’s three kids from a prior relationship. Pagán also has a daughter named Nico.

Remini recounted the experience in an interview with Redbook magazine in the year 2010. “For me, it was love at first sight,” she said.

“I saw him across the room and was like, ‘Damn!'” she said in 2019, when she was asked about their first encounter during an appearance on the discussion program RuPaul, which was only on the air for a brief period of time. “At what time do you plan to egress?”

“It was like everything bad, like everything that you should not do as a lady is ask a man when he gets off work, hit it very soon, and there was a lot of times that you did that… In a humorous manner, she said, “I was like a groupie.” “It was just really bad, all bad looks.”

Remini was very candid about the highs and lows that the couple experienced during the course of their relationship.

“It’s a beautiful love story because we did have a hard time at the beginning,” according to her explanation. Our encounter was not the most favorable of all possible scenarios. Counselling was given to us, and the journey was not an easy one. Once again, I am saying these things in an attempt to make myself laugh, but the fact of the matter is that he is my source of support.

Over the course of their careers, Remini and Pagán collaborated on a number of projects, one of which was on her critically acclaimed comedy The King of Queens, in which Pagán appeared as a guest star on many times.

More recently, Remini disclosed on her Instagram and X (which was then known as Twitter) profiles that she had graduated from New York University (NYU) with an associate’s degree in March.

Alongside a photograph of her graduation, Remini shared that she started the “terrifying journey” three years ago, “at the age of 50 after only having an eighth-grade education.” These words were written next to the picture.

“After three years of putting in a lot of effort, staying up late, crying, and having several moments of wanting to quit up, I have finally obtained an associate’s degree from New York University. Remini made the announcement that she is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
