The wife of Joey Lawrence has filed for divorce, claiming irreconcilable differences as the reason. She is requesting exclusive physical custody of their daughter, along with some rather significant limits on Joey’s ability to carry out his duties.
The documents for the divorce were submitted by Samantha Lawrence, Joey’s wife of two years, about two months after she claims that the couple had split in June. In spite of the fact that she ticked the box to prevent the court from granting spousal support to either of them, she is undoubtedly requesting that she be granted the majority of the opportunity to see their daughter.
In the documents, she makes an explicit request to the court that she be granted complete physical custody of the child, with Joey being permitted to visit only when she chooses to do so.
She states that once their daughter Dylan, who was born in January 2023, reaches the age of three, she is ready to let their daughter remain with Joey for up to two nights per week; but, she wants that he not be allowed to keep her for prolonged periods of time until she is older and can give her agreement to such visits.
Samantha goes on to say that she does not want any people who are not members of her family to be present in Dylan’s presence when she is seeing her father, unless she gives her permission.
The request is rather rigorous, and it may be an indication that things are going to get problematic between them about custody concerns.
Back in the year 2020, Joey and Samantha started working together on a Lifetime movie. They went on to get engaged in August of the following year, and they eventually tied the knot in May of 2022.
In the last few weeks, Samantha has seemed to be hinting at a breakup on her Instagram account by unfollowing Joey, removing him from her bio, and posting cryptic comments that seemed to imply that the pair was going their separate ways.
