Gypsy-Rose Blanchard gets closer to having a baby!

Blanchard announced her pregnancy with partner Ken Urker on Aug. 10. She posted the news on Instagram, including a video of the couple standing near a balloon arrangement that seemed to burst open to reveal pink confetti.

They addressed the camera and gave their daughter a message. “Sweetie, I’m your mom,” Blanchard began, and Urker added, “I’m your dad.”

“You are a girl!” they said together.

The caption read: “The moment you’ve been waiting for… It’s a girl!” Ken and I are thrilled to start our family. We appreciate our friends, neighbors, and family that attended our celebration today! We also appreciate your love and support! 💕🎀✨.”

Blanchard told PEOPLE in July that she was stunned to learn she was pregnant with her first child.

“I was very surprised,” Blanchard told PEOPLE over Zoom hours after an emotional YouTube video announcing her pregnancy.

“His face was priceless,” Blanchard’s stepmom Kristy told PEOPLE over the phone after telling Urker.

“He smiled broadly. A gift and unbelievable. She stated that they will be terrific parents and enjoy it. “After holding their kid for the first time, they won’t want to live without it. Even with much criticism, everything fades away.”

Blanchard and Urker reunited after being engaged while Blanchard was in prison for murdering her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in 2022 while in jail after breaking off their engagement in 2019.

In April of the following year, Blanchard, who had been released from prison in December of 2023, submitted a petition for divorce from Anderson. In order to be in closer proximity to Blanchard, Urker relocated from Texas to Louisiana on June 3.

Blanchard, who was the victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy at the hands of her mother, revealed to PEOPLE that she has been contemplating the sort of mother she would want to be in the future.

“I want to be kind, that my kids come to me for any kind of advice, just like my stepmother,” she said in response. “I have seen how she has parented her children — and I think she’s a kick-ass mom.”

As she proceeded, she said, “She is supportive without being overbearing.” “She lets her kids find their dreams while also being able to pick up the pieces when those dreams fall apart sometimes — so that’s kind of the mantra I want to live by.”
