During the time that Cara Brookins was going through the process of divorcing her abusive spouse, she believed that she and her children need some kind of assistance in retrieving from the trauma that they had endured. She said that she wanted to do something of great importance. It was her intention to set a high goal for herself and her children, with the intention of demonstrating that they are capable of accomplishing any target, regardless of how plainly unachievable it may seem to be.

In fact, it is precisely what they did. In the aftermath of their divorce, Cara and her children were compelled to migrate to the state of Arkansas. She said that they had stopped laughing together as a result of all that they had gone through together. However, something occurred as she was traveling to a cabin that she had rented for the Thanksgiving holiday. They came upon a house that had been destroyed by a tornado. Cara said that immediately after seeing the house for the first time, she had the impression that she could rebuild the walls if she put her whole heart and soul into it.
She came to the realization that if she sold her one-bedroom home and obtained a construction loan, she would be able to get some building supplies as well as an acre of land. Due to the fact that the money only covered the cost of constructing supplies, she was unfortunately had to complete the task on her own. She was aware that it would not be simple, more so due to the fact that her children were so young; her oldest kid was 17 years old, and her youngest child was only two years old.
With regard to her children, on the other hand, they did not disappoint her. Their assistance was provided in every manner that they could. As a direct result of this, they began constructing their living space together. Because they were completely clueless on how to carry out the task, they sought aid from YouTube. By watching video tutorials, they were able to enrich their understanding. As a result of the fact that YouTube was not as developed at the time and that they did not have cellphones that allowed them to see the videos on-site, they were required to watch the lessons the night before they went to the construction site, and they had to rely on their memory to remember how to do things correctly.

She was aware that it would be challenging, particularly due to the fact that she was required to fulfill the requirements of the loan while also working full-time as a senior computer analyst. It was a source of concern for her that her children would suddenly decide that they did not want to participate in the renovation of the house. Due to the fact that they have been devoting all of their time and energy to the construction of their home, she and her family have not had any freedom to unwind for many months.
Collaboration, on the other hand, not only assisted them in constructing a new home, but it also assisted them in mending their relationships with one another. In her statement, Cara said that they had resumed their conversation and that they had also resumed their laughter together. A firefighter was one of the people who helped them construct their home. Their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and electrical problems were also treated by a specialist. In addition, after nine months of hard work, they were awarded for their achievements.
After overcoming all of the challenges that she has encountered, Cara has recounted her path to getting back on her feet via the book that she has written titled “Rise.” All those who are on the verge of giving up or who have been victims of domestic violence will find this book to be a source of encouragement. There is a saying that goes, “You will never know how strong you are until you are forced to be strong.” The fact that Cara pursued what seemed to be an unachievable goal demonstrates an incredible amount of bravery. Not only did she assist her children in constructing a brand new and improved home, but she also instructed them on how to be courageous.
