New Miss Teen USA crowned!

Miss Mississippi Teen USA Addie Carver won Miss Teen USA 2024 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 1.

The first and second runners-up were Georgia’s Ava Colindres and Arizona’s Rachael McLaen.

Townsend Blackwell of Tennessee and Olivia Travis of West Virginia completed the top five.

“After countless years of hearing ‘No,’ one month ago today, I finally got the ‘Yes’ that I’ve been dreaming of,” Carver posted on Instagram after becoming Miss Mississippi Teen USA in April. “My path to this moment has been long, but it was worth it! The words cannot express how much this objective means to me, but I am thankful and ready. Getting to represent my state at Miss Teen USA is my greatest honor. TYJ.”

Carver, 17, is from Brookhaven, Miss. According to her Miss Mississippi USA profile, dance provided a “safe space” for her when her father passed away when she was 13, and she aims to encourage others to develop talents that help them deal with life. She leads varsity cheer.

Judges for the pageant included actress Francia Raísa, Dancing With the Stars professional dancer Rylee Arnold, influencer Alyssa Carson, Miss Teen USA 2019 Kaliegh Garris, and Miss World 2022 Shree Saini. The pageant was hosted by Rachel Lindsay and Justin Sylvester.

UmaSofia Srivastava, who resigned as Miss Teen USA 2023 about two months ago, said on Instagram that her “personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organization”.

After her departure, Srivastava told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that it “definitely was not my first choice [to resign].” She attended a humanitarian event.

She said, “I’m unfortunately unable to elaborate. But it was a difficult choice, and I’m interested to see what’s next.”

In a deleted Instagram post, Miss Teen USA wished the high school student well. The group added, “We respect and support UmaSofia’s decision to step down from her duties.” “The well-being of our titleholders is a top priority.”

Noelia Voigt, Miss USA 2023, quit that week to focus on her mental health. “In life, I strongly value the importance of making decisions that feel best for you and your mental health,” she said in a post.

Continued, “Representing Utah and the US at Miss Universe has been a rewarding experience as Miss USA. I regretfully resign as Miss USA 2023.”

Voigt, who has not disclosed her departure, has requested the organization to lift her non-disclosure agreement.

After Srivastava surrendered her title, first-runner-up Miss New York Teen USA Stephanie Skinner told PEOPLE she refused the crown.

“It was an extremely hard decision to make,” said rising Wharton School student Skinner. “Although this title was a dream of mine, I believe one thing I will never give up is my character.”

Although that post remains empty, Savannah Gankiewicz was named Miss USA 2023 in May. Miss USA 2024 will be crowned Sunday, August 4.
