Elton John, often known as “Rocket Man,” has dominated the music business for many decades. He has been quite successful throughout this time. The singer, songwriter, and pianist has been honored with several big accolades from prestigious awarding organizations such as the Grammys, the Oscars, the MTV Video Music Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors, and a great deal of other similar organizations.
John began composing music in the 1960s, but it wasn’t until 1969 that he produced his first album, which was titled ‘Empty Sky.’
1970 saw John get his first major success with “Your Song,” which was taken from his second album of the same name. Both in the United Kingdom and in the United States, the record was successful after its release. This served as the catalyst for the singer’s peak years of commercial success, which spanned the years 1970 through 1976. Albums like as “Honky Chateau” (1972), “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” (1973), and his very first “Greatest Hits” compilation album were released during this time period.
In 2018, he embarked on the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour,” which was intended to be the last tour of his career. John will have played 333 concerts by the time this concert tour is through; this tour alone will account for 333 of those performances. In Stockholm, Sweden, on July 8, 2023, John gave the performance that would be the capstone of his farewell tour, marking the culmination of his decades-long financial success and influence on the music and entertainment industries.
According to the BBC, ever since the conclusion of his years-long farewell tour in July 2023, the iconic artist had been spending his time at his French Villa in Nice, France, with his spouse, David Furnish, and their two children, Zachary and Elijah. Zachary and Elijah were given the middle names Zachary and Elijah.
Unfortunately, in August of 2023, the singer was sent to the hospital as a result of a small accident that occurred on the aforementioned property.
Over the weekend, Elton John is said to have sustained an injury after falling at his property, as reported by Page Six. Immediately after the accident, he was sent to the orthopedic department of the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco.
The musician responsible for the popular song “Your Song” was given preventative care at the medical center.
His representative confirmed to the publication that the singer was, in fact, admitted to the medical facility.
“We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the South of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” the spokesman stated. “We can confirm that this is the case.”
Thankfully, it was claimed by the BBC that the singer only had minor injuries and was quickly released the morning after the incident. It also seems that the artist did not suffer any significant injuries in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
“Following check-ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home where he is in good health,” the official continued.
It has been alleged that he fell and injured himself in the year 2021, making his most recent mishap not the first time he has been taken to the hospital after such an incident.
After suffering a fall earlier in the year, the artist was recommended to seek surgery, therefore he postponed the tour dates for his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour in 2021, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. The tour was scheduled to take place in 2021.
The musician said at the time, in a statement that was circulated on social media, that he had fallen “awkwardly on a hard surface” and that he has been “in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.”
Even though he was receiving extensive physiotherapy and treatment from a professional, the discomfort was becoming worse, and it was difficult for him to move about.
He shared the news with his audience, saying, “I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications.”
During an interview with BBC Radio 5Live, Elton John provided further context about his decision to call off the tour that was scheduled for 2021, as reported by the Daily Express.
He said on the radio program that he was a “alcoholic in recovery,” which means that he must take whatever comes his way in stride and that there is nothing he can do to change his circumstances.
“The only thing I can do to make a difference is to take constructive action. Get it done right away, because I hate to let people down and I despise having to cancel events,” he remarked.
He then remembered what Bono had said to him during the summer of that year, when the other musical giant had told him that he needed to get his tour done because he had been singing for a long time. Bono had told him that he needed to get his tour done because he had been singing for a long time.
He continued by saying, “I sing for two hours and 45 minutes, and it hurts, so I want to make sure that I really enjoy what I’m doing.”
John then said that this tour will be his very last one and that was the reason he wanted to deliver “100 percent” to all of his followers. And while it was a hard choice for him to make, he ultimately chose to call off the tour since his health was so critical.
After that, his spouse informed him that he had to quit touring immediately and that he would start up again in January of the following year.
He went on to say that “it didn’t cause me a load of mental anguish,” and that “the only anguish I have is letting people down.”
After being absent from performing for close to two years, the artist reportedly made his stage comeback in New Orleans. Reuters reported this information. A year earlier, when the COVID-19 epidemic was at its height, he was unable to perform for a number of reasons, including his existing health condition.
John said that it was a new experience for both him and his fans that he took a significant vacation from performing since he had been working in the music business since he was a youngster. This was true both for John and for his followers.
“I’ve never had this amount of time off in my life… playing music, well at least since I was 17 years old,” he added. “This is a new experience for us.”
Then, in July 2023, he finally said goodbye to his fans from travelling for the last time as he closed up his last tour at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. This marked the end of his career.
