After a full year has passed since Sinéad O’Connor passed away on July 26, 2023, the official cause of loss has been disclosed. 56 was her age.
The official cause of loss of Sinead O’Connor has been disclosed more than a year after her passing.
According to a story that was published by the Irish Independent, which was able to secure a copy of the loss record for the famous singer, O’Connor passed away as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, and a low-grade lower respiratory tract infection.
It has been six months since ET had previously verified with the London Inner South Coroner’s Court that her cause of loss was recorded as “natural causes.” The latest report comes after ET had previously confirmed this information. As a result of her rendition of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1990, O’Connor became a worldwide phenomenon. She passed away on July 26, 2023, when she was 56 years old.
Her family verified the news in a statement that was sent to RTE at the time. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad,” according to the statement. “Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
Initially, the Irish Times was the publication that broke the news of her passing. Over time, ET was able to corroborate that British law enforcement officers discovered the singer “unresponsive” at her residence in London and “pronounced her passed at the scene.” According to the London Inner South Coroner’s Court, an autopsy is now being performed on the deceased. Nevertheless, her loss was not seen as strange in any way.
At the same time that O’Connor was struggling with mental illness, her personal life was impacted by tragedy. The artist has made repeated public threats of suicide in recent years, and her son, Shane, who was 17 years old at the time of his loss, committed himself in January 2022. Shane had gone missing in Ireland.
O’Connor was remembered by a number of other artists and celebrities when the news of her passing spread. These individuals included Questlove, Jamie Lee Curtis, and others who were in the industry.
The dude is a heartbreaker. One of the most pleasant people in the world. My god, guy. This is quite upsetting. In the description of an Instagram photo that included a portrait of Sinead O’Connor with her characteristic buzz cut, the Roots drummer used the hashtag “#SineadOconnor.”
Once upon a time, I had the opportunity to listen to Sìnead perform acappella in a church that was completely empty in Ireland. In the private residence of our host, it was in the process of being constructed. Throughout my whole life, I have never heard anything more lovely than what I just heard. Following that, we went together to a festival to see Eminem perform. I cherished her. It is her music. It was her life. Curtis stated on Instagram that she was a victim of child abuse and a significant change agent for unfair and unjust draconian laws that she helped reform in Ireland. “She was a victim of child abuse,” Curtis said. “She was a fierce fighter. It was a defiant woman. Because of the hypocrisy of the terrible environment she was reared in under the flag of the church, she tore up a portrait that was hanging on the wall of her mother’s home. This is such a terrible thing. Please watch the documentary titled “NOTHING COMPARES.” Amazingly brilliant. It breaks my heart. Get some rest. May you rest in power. Do not be disturbed.
In the weeks leading up to her passing, O’Connor appeared on Facebook with a message that was more upbeat and positive.
“Hello, everyone! I have recently relocated back to London after being away for 23 years. I am overjoyed to be back at home:) I will soon be completing my album. According to what she posted on July 11th, “Release early next year:)” With any luck, we will be touring New Zealand and Australia at the end of 2024. #TheBitchIsBack will be available in Europe, the United States of America, and other areas starting in the early year 2025.
