On Friday, July 5, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that a four-month-old child had passed away as a result of being exposed to a heat wave when she was on Lake Havasu in Arizona with her family.

While the baby girl, Tanna Rae Wroblewski, and her family were out on a boat on Lake Havasu on Friday at around five o’clock in the afternoon, the baby girl became sick and eventually lost consciousness.

According to a GoFundMe website that was established for the Wroblewski family, medical personnel from Tanna’s family performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on her before the Lake Havasu City Fire Department arrived at the scene. According to the statement released by the McAllen County Sheriff’s Office, the first responders then carried Tanna to the Havasu Regional Medical Center, where they proceeded to work on her in order to get a pulse.

However, after being transported to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, she ultimately passed away as a result of her injuries.

The loss of Tanna is now being investigated by authorities. As an additional point of interest, the medical examiner has not yet disclosed the reason for the infant’s loss either.

The Lake Havasu area issued a warning to the general public on Thursday, July 4, stating that temperatures will be breaking records for the first time in almost forty years. Beginning on Friday, the temperature in the region reached a high of 120 degrees Fahrenheit, and according to AccuWeather, it is anticipated that it will continue to reach the 110s until the middle of July.

Over the course of the holiday weekend, when temperatures skyrocketed in several parts of the United States, there were a number of losses that were attributed to heat-related causes.

Alyssa, Tanna’s mother, paid a touching tribute to her late daughter on Facebook on Sunday, July 7. The message was uploaded on the social networking site.

The angel that we had in our lives, Tanna Rae, has now become an angel in paradise. We are utterly disappointed and distraught; there are just no words to express how we feel. When our lovely daughter passed away on July 5, 2024, she offered us her final smiles, and we gave her our final kisses. She added, “Please pay us a visit, baby girl. 🦋🨻”

I will never be able to comprehend the reason for your departure from us; you were just too wonderful. My love for you is boundless, and I will search for you in every corner of the world, angel. Mother, father, and sister all love you with all their hearts.

According to Alyssa’s Facebook page, the family traveled to Havasu in April, May, and June with the infant. This information is also included in the profile.

On Monday, July 8, the day that Tanna would have been four months old, Alyssa posted a terrible note on Facebook, followed by the final images of her baby. The heartbreaking message was accompanied by the photos.

These are the last photographs that I shot of you before you departed from our presence. Laughter emanated from your grin. I always claimed she is my ANGEL she is my PEACE 🤍. There was never a moment in my life that I imagined I would go through without you. You brought our family back together. If you were born today, you would have been four months old. 🦋,” the mother added.

After that, she proceeded by stating that it “has been tough” to explain the loss to Tanna’s elder sister Ray.

How could she have been able to go? We don’t understand why you had to leave. She has made sure that all of your favorite toys are placed in the bassinet before bedtime the last couple of nights, and she has left things out for you to play with. Without you, darling daughter, we are so utterly sad that we just do not have the words to speak. We have a deep affection for you and would gladly do everything to have you there with us. Our affection for you, Tanny, will last forever.

On Sunday, Devynn Crane launched a GoFundMe campaign for the Wroblewski family and wrote in the description: “You would never anticipate the unimaginable to happen and have to prepare a funeral for your lovely baby daughter at the tiny age of four months old.”

According to the information that was published on Tuesday, July 9, donations have almost quadrupled the target amount of $25,000.

PEOPLE’s request for further information on Tuesday was not immediately met with a response from a representative of the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
