According to the police, a guy from Las Vegas who is 28 years old has been accused of murdering the kid of his girlfriend, who was just one year old at the time. The boy was rushed to the hospital with difficulty breathing when he was taken there.

Christian Moniz Rabino, age 28, is presently being detained without bail at the Clark County Detention Center, according to prisoner documents that were examined by PEOPLE. Rabino has been charged with first-degree murder as well as two charges of child neglect and abuse.

There is a lack of clarity around whether or not he has filed a plea or hired a counsel already.

According to local Fox 5 in Las Vegas, Rabino was taken into jail on June 25, about a month after infant Kai Tesoro, who was one at the time, was transported to the hospital. The records indicate that Rabino was taken into prison.

According to a police record that was acquired by the site, Rabino reportedly confessed to the police at the hospital that he had phoned 911 because Kai was “having trouble breathing and ultimately not breathing.”

According to the report that was acquired by Fox 5, healthcare professionals found that Kai had “bruising to his head” and “a fracture to his right leg” when he was recuperating at the hospital.

A doctor reportedly informed the authorities that the alleged abuse “was one of the worst cases he had seen” in his career as a medical expert. This information was published by the local KLAS.

A relative first informed police that she thought Kai fell from a bed while Rabino was looking after him, but then stated that she could not determine for definite if Kai’s injuries were from falling off a bed or from Rabino allegedly torturing the boy. This information was published by Fox 5, which cited the arrest report.

According to the police report, the relative also said that she saw Rabino get upset with the one-year-old kid for weeping and not being able to walk by himself. She said that she watched Rabino’s frustration with her own eyes. The relative allegedly informed the investigators that she saw Rabino shake Kai when he grew angry by the baby’s wailing, and that he “plated [him] feet-first on the ground” in an attempt to compel him to walk, as stated in the police report. Rabino allegedly did this in an attempt to push Kai to walk.

It was eventually determined by medical professionals that the action in question was the cause of fractures in both of Kai’s legs, as stated in the report.

The family of Kai’s father expressed their sorrow at the loss of the one-year-old kid and started a GoFundMe campaign to seek money to assist with the costs of the child’s burial ceremonies.

In the post on GoFundMe that was started by Kai’s grandpa Steve Tesoro, it was said that “Our family has always believed Kai would bring a special type of Aloha to this world and those around him.” The giving of his organs to children who were in need was the way in which he fulfilled this conviction after he passed away. Kai is a genuine hero, and his spirit and Aloha will continue to exist even after he is gone. Kai was a youngster who was full of pleasure and enthusiasm, and he provided enormous delight to everyone who knew him. He was able to bring laughter and smiles to everyone he came in contact with. Love was the only thing he ever desired.

A fund to assist in the upbringing of Kai’s sister A’leia, who is three years old, will also get contributions, according to the family.

Inmate records indicate that Rabino is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on August 7th.
