Ann Wilson, the lead vocalist of Heart, contacted her followers on Instagram to inform them that she has been diagnosed with cancer.
Due to the fact that she just had surgery to remove cancer, Ann Wilson has decided to cancel her scheduled concerts.
The lead singer of Heart, who is 74 years old, said in a post that she made on Instagram on Tuesday that she would be undergoing chemotherapy and taking the second half of the year off to relax and recuperate from her treatment. This decision was made in accordance with the recommendations of her medical professionals.
“I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous,” said Ann in an interview. “The operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & l’ve decided to do it.”
A picture was not included in the post since Ann chose to keep the description blank. Instead, the message was written up and posted.
She went on to say, “And so, in order for me to fully recover, my doctors have instructed me to take the rest of the year off from performing on stage.” To those who have purchased tickets, I really hope that we will be able to perform at these performances. It is my intention to return to the stage in the year 2025, so please be aware of this. Those particulars are now being worked out by my team, and we will provide you with the strategy as soon as we are able to.
Prior to the cancellation, the band, which also includes Nancy Wilson, Ryan Waters, Ryan Wariner, Paul Moak, Tony Lucido, and Sean T. Lane, had planned to tour Europe during the summer and make around thirty stops in the United States for their Royal Flush Tour. However, the tour was canceled.
Ann indicated to her fans in a message that she published on Tuesday that she considers the cancellation to be more of a delay. Simply said, this is a brief pause. “I have a lot more songs to sing,” she added, expressing gratitude to the audience for their support and requesting solitude at this difficult time.
Following the news made by the band in the middle of May that they would be canceling their gigs in Europe in order to allow Wilson to undergo a “time-sensitive but routine” surgery, this announcement took place. The nature of the operation that she received and whether or not this is the same surgery that was used to diagnose the malignancy are both unknown.
During that time, she posted a message of her own in which she shared Heart’s news. In the post, she apologized for the inconvenience and assured her followers that she would be well.
Ann wrote in the caption, “Please don’t worry,” and she meant it. If this causes you any trouble, please accept my sincere apologies. I find that it is a really inconvenient situation for me. I will always love and respect you, Ann.
