It is one step closer to Serena Williams’s aim than it was before.
Through the sharing of real-time fits and the documentation of her journey with fans, the tennis star, who is 42 years old, is being open and honest about her postpartum weight reduction.
Williams uploaded a video on Instagram on Monday, July 1, in which she can be seen putting on her Valentino denim midi skirt for the third time.
She stated in the caption, “Ok everyone, the jean skirt is baaaaaackkkkkk,” while referring to the item. “Paris was fun, but I gotta see if I can fit in this skirt yet — saying a little prayer…lol.”
Since I last tried it on, I haven’t tried it on again. Now, let’s wait and watch what transpires here. She says this in the video as she pulls the article of clothing over her dusty pink sports romper. “Let us say our prayers,” she continues. “Don’t get negative if it doesn’t work out.”
According to Williams, “We don’t have that big of a problem anymore, but we still got a little bit of a problem.” Williams then brings the skirt up to her waist and makes the following observation.
The winner of the Grand Slam tournament says that she has “made a lot of progress” as she is buttoning the skirt, but she is having trouble pulling the zipper up. “I am not depressed at all, and I am not even dissatisfied. To tell you the truth, I got it onto my butt. Things are a bit cramped… It’s hard for me to just breathe.”
Taking off the skirt, Williams gives an upbeat and positive statement to the camera, saying, “I might have to do one video.” This is hopefully the next one.”
An outpouring of support for Williams was given by fans in the comments section, with many of them appreciating her present look. “Throw that skirt away and buy a new one with a lil stretch b/c your body is perfect,” a concerned individual commented.
Someone else made the following observation: “Chile, can you make that skirt into a little jacket or something?” Your body is in such a bad way! As a mother, you have made two sacrifices of your body in order to bring two little individuals into this world.
The athlete first revealed her attempt at wearing a denim skirt in a photo that she published on Instagram in January and titled “The Diary of a Denim skirt (part 1).”
“When I was pregnant, I got this cool Valentino skirt, and I thought to myself, ‘I’m going to be able to fit in this when I don’t have a belly,'” the Olympian says in the video clip, before disclosing that the skirt did not fit her.
Her objective is to be able to wear the skirt, as she indicated in her statement. Additionally, to tell you the truth, I ought to have been able to fit it by now, but I ran into problems… I became preoccupied for around one month. As a result, I am around one month behind schedule. At the moment, she said that there was still a long way to go.
During the month of May, Williams attempted to put the skirt on for a second time, but she discovered that it would not go over her hips. I am going to try on my skirt once again to see whether or not it has improved since I last tried it on four weeks ago. In all honesty, it has been close to six weeks. The video shows her saying, “To tell you the truth, I have a feeling that it is going to fit the same because I have been going to the gym a lot, but I don’t know if the needle is moving.”
“I’m not crying, but I really want to be.” She laughed and said, “I’m going to stop eating all of those snacks.”
And in August of 2023, Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian became parents for the second time to a girl named Adira River. In addition, they have a daughter named Olympia who is six years old.
