It has been announced by Kevin Costner that he will not be returning to the character of John Dutton for the remaining episodes of Yellowstone.
In a recent post on Instagram, the recipient of an Academy Award informed his followers that he would not be returning to the popular series for the second half of the fifth season there.
The declaration made by Costner comes after the revelation that the long-awaited second half of the season would make its premiere on Paramount Network on November 10th, which was announced on June 20th.
Hello to everyone! I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that are necessary, I have been thinking about Yellowstone, which is a treasured series that I adore, and I know that you also love it. I have now come to the realization that I will not be able to continue with Season 5b or any further seasons in the future,” he said.
“It was something that brought about a true transformation in me. He went on to say, “I loved it, and I know that you loved it as well.” He repeated, “I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning,” before adding, “I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies.” He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to spend time with you.
Between the years 2018 and 2022, Costner played the role of patriarch John Dutton III for a total of four and a half seasons. In addition to Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Ryan Bingham, and Hassie Harrison, he also appeared in the series with Taylor Sheridan, who was also a co-creator of the show.
The debut of the first half of the fifth season of the popular Western television series was scheduled to take place in November 2022 and continue until January 2023. Initially, the season was supposed to end with a premiere in November 2023. Nevertheless, the production fell behind schedule as a result of the strike by the authors. In November of 2023, the network made the announcement that it would be another year before the Dutton family would make their comeback to the entertainment industry.
In addition, Coster revealed the following information to characters in an exclusive interview for this week’s cover story: “I loved the characters on the program. I like the idea that it was about. That planet is my favorite.”
In the annual 100 Reasons to Love America edition published by People magazine, Kevin Costner, who is now ranked first on the list, said how much he “loved the show.”
In his explanation, the iconic actor said that he had made the program a priority for more than a year as he waited for the scripts and schedule for the next season, but “the scripts weren’t there.”
At the time when Taylor Sheridan presented it to me for the first time, it was just one season long and seemed to be a lengthy film, which is something that speaks to me. But in the end, I believe that what transpired was that the studio did not want it,” he revealed to PEOPLE the information. Due to the fact that he is such a prolific writer, he said, “I am capable of doing that. I am able to create a series that continues on.'”
“I said, ‘I’ll do it for three seasons,'” Costner recounted, “and I ended up doing it for five.” Costner readily “stepped up,” and he expressed his willingness to do so.
Although the actor expressed a willingness to continue with the series, he clarified that there was neither a timeframe nor any fresh content. “There came a point in time when I lost interest in the program for a period of fourteen months… That is the reality. During that period of time, I had the opportunity to do a great deal of things; nevertheless, I was unaware that such [hold-up] was going to take place.
