A cool $3,619,000 was been paid for the sale of Richard Pryor’s former house in Los Angeles, which was the notorious location where he burned himself on fire in the year 1980.

Rashard Mendenhall, a former National Football League star who is now a Hollywood writer, put his Northridge house up for sale for a mere three months, which resulted in a large profit for him. In 2017, he had acquired the property for a price of $2.5 million.

It wasn’t quite what Rashard had hoped for — he first priced the property at $4,236,000, which was a reference to his total of 4,236 yards running in his NFL career — but it’s still a very great bargain.

Not only is this home not just any old property, but it also has a significant amount of history. Pryor bought it in 1976, and it was there that he is infamously known to have drenched himself in rum and accidently set himself on fire while freebasing cocaine. As a result, he suffered serious burns on more than fifty percent of his body.

In spite of the tragedy, the property is a true jewel; it offers 6,000 square feet of living space on a huge almost 2.2-acre lot in the exclusive Sherwood Forest area.

A gourmet kitchen, a library, a billiard room, and even a separate guest house and pool house, each of which has its own kitchen, are all included in the package.

In addition, there is a professional dance studio, a tennis court, a putting green, and the estate also functions as a legal horse property.

Beate Kessler-McDermott and Neil McDermott, both of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties, were the ones that successfully listed the property.
