A promise that Fabiola Solis Cisneros had made to her family was fulfilled on Thursday, June 6, as she walked over the stage at Coalinga High School.
When Solis Cisneros, who was then 18 years old, found out that she was pregnant in 2022, she was halfway finished with her second year of high school. In an interview with PEOPLE, she describes how her relationship with her father, who was originally upset and dissatisfied with her, was a difficult one.
However, the fact that she was determined to go on with her study after the birth of her son Xavier was a significant factor in the process of reconciliation. One other thing that doesn’t hurt is the fact that when her father picked her up from the hospital and saw his grandson for the first time, he had an immediate connection with him. “It was love at first sight,” she adds. “I loved it.”
Solis Cisneros confesses that she “wasn’t in the best mental state” when she heard the news that she was pregnant for the first time.
She recalls, “I just felt like I was all by myself.”
Nevertheless, her three elder siblings came together to support her. During the time that she was taking the home pregnancy test, they were there to provide her with both their views and their support. She claims that she gave her alternatives some thought, but in the end, she made the decision that she wanted to keep her kid. In spite of this, the idea of informing her parents was quite intimidating.
Solis Cisneros adds, “I don’t know if you know Mexican parents, but this was not good.” She is referring to the situation. We were all terrified of my father, but we were also anxious about how our mother would respond to the situation.

In the morning of the next day, she mustered the strength to inform him, and the outcome was not favorable.
She claims that “in the end, he didn’t want me to struggle by myself and let me stay,” despite the fact that there was a time when the possibility of being booted out of the home was brought up.
The promise that Solis Cisneros made to her parents that she would continue her education and graduate with the rest of her class was one of the things that helped to alleviate the strain that was present in the family. Despite the fact that her father did not get a “proper education,” she claims that he always encouraged his children to achieve success in school so that they would be able to be successful in life.
This is what Solis Cisneros had to say about the situation: “He told my mom that if I wanted him to support me, I had to continue studying and going to school.” My will to keep on with my studies and not give up was bolstered by that opportunity.
In point of fact, she claims that she did not cease attending school “until a week before my due date.”
The realization that she was not alone was the source of her strength throughout everything.
“I had the support of everyone, from the father of my baby to my sisters to my mother and some of my teachers,” the mother recalls. “I had everyone’s support.” Throughout the whole of my pregnancy, I was never alone myself.
After learning that Fabiola was expecting a child, math teacher Korie Love reported to the local ABC station KFSN-TV that she immediately inquired about the ways in which she could assist her.
Love said that she was not interested in receiving any kind of preferential treatment. “She would go in here and get her job done. Extremely self-motivated.”
In spite of this, Solis Cisneros tells PEOPLE that the “little checkups” that she received from her instructor “made me feel important.” After that, she continues, “I didn’t feel as down anymore.”
On the 18th of December, 2022, when it was time for baby Xavier to make his entrance, her father drove her to the hospital throughout the delivery process.
According to her, “By virtue of the fact that it is a painful process, he was anxious about me having the baby.” “He gave me a hug and told me to be safe and said a little prayer for me.”

Immediately after the birth of Xavier, her relationship with her father underwent a significant transformation; yet, she initially struggled when it came to her academic pursuits. Independent study was something she attempted, but she quickly discovered that it was not working for her. In a fortunate turn of events, Solis Cisneros was able to resume attending in-person lessons since her mother volunteered to take care of the baby; this completely changed the course of events.
“I had the feeling that I could begin making preparations for a more favorable future,” she recalls. “I started getting better grades, and my father actually started talking to me,” she said she said. Following that, I was able to get a part-time work, which allowed me to reach my objectives.
About the future, Solis Cisneros has said that she intends to enroll in college in the autumn and that she wishes to utilize her education to assist in the process of paying it forward.
“I’m debating whether I should pursue a career in nursing or psychology,” says Solis Cisneros. I would want to work in schools so that I can assist those who are having difficulty and show them that they still have the potential to be successful.
