When Pelissero first said that the Chiefs had canceled their practice on Thursday, he did not explicitly name Thompson as the player in question. On the other hand, the first report simply disclosed that a defensive lineman who was serving as a backup on the team had experienced a seizure and had gone into cardiac arrest.

During a “special teams meeting” that took place at the practice facility on Thursday, Thompson started experiencing seizures, and several sources informed Pelissero that the Chiefs’ medical personnel “immediately” reacted to the emergency situation.
