The kids of Ryan Reynolds are proud to be American and Canadian.

Hugh Jackman, 55, was interviewed for this week’s cover story. It’s the first time that PEOPLE has ever made collectible side-by-side covers with both Deadpool and Wolverine on them. The 47-year-old dad of four told PEOPLE that his children have IDs for both the US and Canada.

Jackman, who was born in Australia, joked about their Commonwealth ties by asking Reynolds if his kids think of themselves as part Canadian.

Jackman says of his children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, “It was really important for us that we spent time in Australia…and they felt part Australian, and I’m really proud of that.”

“I believe they would say ‘I’m Australian’ if you asked them. They’ll say, “No, I’m not American; I’m Australian.” How are the kids? Is that something you want?” He asks Jackman.

“My kids, they have Canadian passports as well, and they feel a real connection to that,” Reynolds says. “They’re very proud of it.” Also, they spent a lot of their formative years in Canada, especially in Vancouver.

Reynolds jokes, “I had only one child in Deadpool 1 and I had two on Deadpool 2, but hopefully we don’t do a Deadpool 8 because I don’t want eight kids.” The first two Deadpool movies were filmed in Vancouver.

That being said, he adds, “They love being from Canada.” They say they are. “I’m half American and half Canadian,” she said.

Reynolds and his 36-year-old wife Blake Lively have four children: Betty, 4, Ines, 7, James, 9, and a blind one-year-old.

Reynolds wrote an ode to Michael J. Fox for TIME in April, when Fox was named one of the magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. Reynolds said that Fox’s work had helped him teach his older daughter James some life skills.

“My 8-year-old daughter and I saw Back to the Future last year.” “It’s now her favorite movie,” Reynolds wrote. “That’s enough for now, both for her and me.” “What I saw is seen by one more kid from another generation.”

“I understand how fortunate I am to have Mike as a friend.” She still doesn’t know that I know him. I don’t have to teach my daughter how to be as compassionate as Mike is. Or show her how to tell stories like Mike does.

She needs to learn that it’s okay to trip and fall a lot. “It’s the best way to know you’re flying,” the father of four said.
