Following the successful completion of his third open-heart surgery, Jimmy Kimmel is experiencing feelings of gratitude for his son William “Billy” John, who is seven years old.

In the caption of a picture that he posted on Instagram on Monday, May 27, the late-night show host, who is 56 years old, revealed that his son Billy had undergone another open-heart surgery over the weekend. The snapshot showed Billy smiling as he was lying in a hospital bed. A congenital heart condition was present at the time of Billy’s birth in 2017, and Kimmel shares custody of him with his wife Molly McNearney.

This past weekend, our son Billy had his third (and hopefully last) open-heart surgery on his heart. Kimmel started by expressing gratitude to all of Billy’s physicians, nurses, and other “hard-working” staff members at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear, and we came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid,” Kimmel said.

The experience of walking about this hospital, encountering parents who are at their most vulnerable, children who are in anguish, and the miracle workers who do all in their enormous capacity to rescue them is a sobering one. We sincerely hope that you will never require CHLA services; however, in the event that you do require them, please be aware that they assist families regardless of their financial situation. This assistance is made possible, in large part, by the Affordable Care Act (an additional tribute to the late Senator John McCain), generous donations from businesses such as Disney, for which I am proud to work, and most importantly, from generous individuals such as yourself,” he continued.

Kimmel also expressed gratitude to the “strangers who took the time to pray for and send positive energy to our baby,” as well as to their friends and family members, for “rallying around us to an almost ridiculous extent.”

In the next sentence, the comedian expressed his gratitude to his wife for “being stronger than is reasonable for any Mom to be,” as well as to his son Billy, whom he referred to as “the toughest (and funniest) 7 year-old we know.”

“There are so many parents and children who aren’t fortunate enough to go home after five days,” he went to explain. “I ask that you send them your love, your hearts, and your prayers, and if it moves you, provide financial assistance to Children’s Los Angeles (link in bio) or a wonderful children’s hospital in your area (@CMNHospitals). Taking care of one another is the most important thing that can be done. Dear Jimmy, with love and appreciation to you.”

Kimmel’s tweet received a number of comments from his pals, all of whom expressed their love and good wishes for Billy.

Carson Daly expressed his affection for Billy by writing, “We love you ❤️,” while Andy Cohen added, “Love to Billy!!!❤️.”

Billy, may God bless you and your family. John Stamos continued by saying, “Yes, he is fortunate to have parents like you and also to have the care of the wonderful people at CHLA.”

The words “So much love to you Jimmy, Molly, and Billy!! ❤️🙌👏😍” were written off by Jenna Dewan.

While Billy was celebrating his seventh birthday a month ago, Kimmel pondered on the open-heart operations that he had undergone in the past.

On April 21, Kimmel expressed his gratitude to the medical professionals and personnel at CHLA for the work that they had done on his kid by posting a post on Instagram.

“Billy is doing great thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff at Children’s Los Angeles and Cedars Sinai,” Kimmel posted on Twitter. “Billy turned seven today and is doing great.” The phrase “Billy is asking friends to give $7 because I’m seven to help kids in the hospital” is what Billy is saying. In addition to a spy kit, his objective is to “raise one hundred dollars to assist sick children.” If you would like to make a donation, please see the link in my bio.

With a kind grin on his face, Billy seemed to kick the camera in the first shot of the beautiful carousel. In the second photo, Billy was seen standing in a Lakers jersey with a basketball tucked under his arm.

A close-up photograph of Billy was included in another post that Kimmel published on the same day. The caption for this post read, “This boy is seven years old because of you.” Your nice letters and generous gifts to the Children’s Legal Aid organization have left Molly and I feeling overwhelmed. Because of all the affection, I am grateful. To you and your families, we hope that you have good health and wonderful friendships.
