The attorney for Casandra “Cassie” Ventura has spoken out in response to the horrifying new video evidence that portrays the singer being physically beaten by her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs in a hotel room in Los Angeles.
CNN released the video of the brawl that took place in 2016 on May 17 after it was recorded on security footage. Combs, who is now 54 years old, is shown in the video grasping, pushing, and kicking Ventura, who is now 37 years old. These acts are consistent with the charges that Ventura made in a lawsuit against Combs in November of last year, which was resolved the very next day.
Douglas H. Wigdor, the attorney for Ventura, issued a statement that was provided with PEOPLE in which he stated, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs.” “It is impossible to find the appropriate words to describe the bravery and determination that Ms. Ventura has displayed by coming forward to bring this to light.”
A representative for Combs has not replied to a request for comment that was made by PEOPLE.
