It has been alleged that Steve Buscemi was hit in the face when he was going up and down the street in New York City.
The publicist for the actor has said to People that the actor was “assaulted in midtown Manhattan.” The publicist also referred to the actor as “another victim of a random act of violence in the city.”
According to his publicist, the New York native, who is 66 years old, is doing OK. He also said that he “appreciates everyone’s well wishes,” but that he is “incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.”
Buscemi, who had only recently joined the cast of the Netflix series Wednesday, was reportedly strolling in the Kips Bay area on May 8 at around 11:50 a.m. when he was randomly hit in the face by an unknown individual, according to the New York Daily News and the New York Post.
In the aftermath of the assault, the actor from Fargo had swelling in his face and left eye, and he was then sent to Bellevue Hospital, according to the reports. In the meanwhile, the perpetrator of the incident ran away from the site.
Both the New York Daily News and the New York Post were informed by the police that the perpetrator of the assault was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a blue T-shirt, black jeans, and white shoes.
The request for comment that was made by PEOPLE was not immediately met with a response from the New York Police Department.
In Manhattan on March 31, a guy struck Michael Stuhlbarg, who plays Buscemi’s costar on Boardwalk Empire, with a rock. This assault takes place around one month after the last one.
In the aftermath of the assault, Xavier Israel, who is 27 years old, was brought into jail after allegedly hitting Stuhlbarg in the back of the neck, as reported by the New York Police Department.
