A well-known mom influencer is facing criticism on the internet after she made some contentious statements on Mother’s Day. She said that she does not celebrate her own mother since she is no longer a full-time parent.
In a video that she recently uploaded to the famous social media site TikTok, Emily Wehner, who is a mother of two and has more than 54,000 followers on the platform, outlined the guidelines that she follows on Mother’s Day.

According to her explanation, the day is Mother’s Day, not Grandmother’s Day; thus, it is not about mothers who have grown children; rather, it should be about mothers who are still doing it on a day-to-day basis.
Wehner recounts a tale of a particularly challenging Christmas that she enjoyed with her family a few years ago. During that particular holiday, she spent more time planning the journey to see her grandparents than she did focused on the thing that was really the highlight of the day: herself.
Emily adds that she prefers a Mother’s Day that is extremely laid back, with activities such as a beautiful breakfast, some gardening, and a pedicure. In other words, she prefers to do a lot of self-care for her mother rather than to go to Nana.
According to Wehner, she honors her mother and mother-in-law on other days; so, it is not as if they do not get any attention the rest of the year; it is just that they do not receive it on MD.
Oh my goodness, this has caused a raging debate among moms, with some of them agreeing with Emily completely and others criticizing her for imposing her will on the occasion.
In response to the situation, Emily wrote a follow-up on her Instagram account, stating that she loves her mother and that they spend a lot of time together, but that they have merely decided to establish a boundary around the holiday for the good of everyone.
