Edgar Lansbury, a producer who won a Tony Award and was the brother of Angela Lansbury, who passed away during her career in television and film, has reportedly passed away, as stated in a post by one of his former actors.
Earlier this week, Peggy Gordon, who was a member of the original cast of the off-Broadway production of the play “Godspell,” posted the news on her Facebook page. The reason of loss was not disclosed by her; however, she did mention that his memorial service will be held in the autumn.
Edgar, who was born in London in 1930, initially came to fame on the Broadway stage in the early 1960s. It was at this time that his play “The Subject Was Roses,” which starred Martin Sheen, earned him the Tony Award for Best Play.
“Godspell,” “American Buffalo,” “Gypsy,” “Waiting for Godot,” and “Lennon” are just some of the popular works that he has created. He also made a successful transition into the realm of cinema and television with adaptations of “TSWR” and “Godspell.”
Naturally, the majority of people would identify him more from his role as Angela’s younger brother. In point of fact, Edgar and his twin brother Bruce moved to Los Angeles as a result of Angela’s success in H’Wood. Edgar pursued his education at UCLA and first pursued a career as an artist before transitioning into the field of producing. In the year 2022, Angela passed away.
“The Magic of Believing: A Lansbury Family Memoir” was the title of a book that Edgar authored about his renowned family in the year 2020. The book concentrated on their mother Charlotte’s unwavering faith and included anecdotes about Angela.

His wife, Louise Peabody, and his six children are the only ones who will remember Edgar.
