As Jerry Seinfeld approached his seventieth birthday, he took some time to ponder on the current status of comedy. He came to the conclusion that the contemporary entertainment industry has lost its sense of humor, and he attributes this to the politically correct society.

In an interview that took place this past week on the New Yorker’s Radio Hour, the famed comedian discussed the current state of comedy in general. He said that, in his opinion, it is not very good, and that this is all due to the “extreme left,” which he feels is responsible for the destruction of television programs and comedies according to him.

According to JS, people have a need for humor, but in the 21st century, particularly in the year 2024, when they turn on their TVs to settle down at night, they are not receiving their daily dosage of comedy.

Jerry adds that folks used to be able to come home and rely on something humorous being on TV — whether it was ‘Cheers,’ ‘M.A.S.H.,’ or anything else… and they could count on a chuckle. He says this when he is reminiscing about the days of the past. However, Jerry claims that this is not the case at all in the present day.

This is something that he attributes to “PC crap” and “woke-ism,” which he claims has stifled innovation and caused everyone to be concerned about jokes that could offend certain groups of people. In addition, he claims that screenplays are now being examined by a multitude of different parties, which makes things more complicated.

This should go without saying… As a result of the fact that Jerry had one of the most successful comedy series in history, “Seinfeld,” his opinion unquestionably has weight. However, there are some people who are quite taken aback by Jerry’s statement.

Although he may be dissatisfied with the direction comedy is heading, he still has a lot of affection for New York City.
