It was on April 23, 2004, when the movie made its debut in cinemas.
Thirty years old, flirtatious, and prospering for all eternity!
During the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the film 13 Going on 30, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, and Mark Ruffalo are expressing their gratitude to the film’s fans, who have ensured that the picture has remained popular and relevant ever since it was released in April of 2004.
In order to commemorate the momentous event, the co-stars got together via Zoom on Tuesday to talk about the making of the now-iconic movie, how their lives have been irrevocably altered as a result of the movie, and the response they have received from fans of the film.
The edited portion of their encounter, which was broadcast on the actress’ social media platforms, includes the following statement: “I met a little baby named Jenna yesterday [named] after the movie,” adds Garner, who is 52 years old.
“A woman came up to me and told me her and her friends do 13 Going on 30 cosplay,” according to Ruffalo, who is 56.

Throughout the course of the movie, the protagonist, Jenna Rink, who is 13 years old and played by Christa B. Allen, miraculously awakens to discover that she is a thirty-year-old woman who lives in New York City and works at her dream job alongside her middle school rival, performed by Greer. Matty is Jenna’s childhood closest friend and the person she turns to after waking up in her adult body, yet with the attitude of a teenager. Ruffalo plays the role of Matty in the film.
Even in the present day, the picture continues to be included on lists of the finest romantic comedies of all time, as well as on lists of films from the early 2000s that are considered to be nostalgic. like part of a project that was inspired by the decade of the 2000s and also included tributes to Bring It On and Mean Girls, pop diva Ariana Grande paid homage to the film in the music video for her song “Thank U, Next” in the year 2018. In the video, Grande dressed up like the role played by Jennifer Garner.
Garner, Greer, and Ruffalo highlighted some of their most memorable moments and interactions with the audience in reaction to the love that they have received from the audience over the course of twenty years. Among the things they discussed was the significant influence the film continues to have to this day.
With a humorous reference to his part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ruffalo made the following statement: “There are two kinds of people in the world: there are people who are the Hulk, and there are people who are 13 Going on 30.” “And I get equal amounts,” he then corrects himself, “way more 13 Going on 30.” He then continues, “And I get equal amounts.”

After twenty years. We are three members of the Baby Boomer generation who are willing to brave zoom in order to express our gratitude. 👴👵👵 We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has enjoyed seeing this film with us. Garner added, “We see you, we appreciate you, and we love you back!” She also included a reference to one of the most famous statements from the movie, which was, “Forever thirty, flirty and thriving!”
Greer is heard in the video saying, “Thank you for watching our movie and loving it,” as her cast mates laugh off her message.
Garner and Ruffalo even took a moment to celebrate with phony Razzles, which are the candy of choice for their characters in the movie. This occurred at one point in the movie. Greer, who portrayed the adversary in the film, could have found the excessive amount of sweetness to be a little bit too much for her.
“You guys are going to make me throw up,” the actress from Halloween Kills voiced her concern.
In the last moments of the video, the three individuals proceeded to reenact the scenario in which their characters dance to Michael Jackson’s song “Thriller.” They even performed some of their most impressive dance routines.
Greer was informed by Garner and Ruffalo that Brie Larson, who would later go on to become an Academy Award winner and a co-star of Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had a non-speaking part in the movie. This was another humorous scene that happened during the Zoom conference.
“Wait, Brie Larson was in our movie?” explains Greer.
During the exchange, Garner says, “Yeah, she was a Six Chick,” as Ruffalo chuckles.
Ashley Benson, who plays the role of Pretty Little Liars, and Brittany Curran, who plays the role of Chicago Fire, both played members of the Six Chicks, which is the gang of cool girls that Garner’s character aspires to be a part of while she is in middle school.
ET had an interview with Ruffalo in January, during which he said that 13 Going on 30 was one of his first major studio pictures, and that he was anxious about the experience.
According to the actor that plays the Avengers, “It was Jen Garner, who is just magical, and we had just a wonderful chemistry together,” when asked about the factor that convinced him to join involved in the film. He also said that while each of the moments has a unique place in his heart, there is one that continues to stand out to him to this day.
“Probably the Razzle scene out on the swings in the park,” Ruffalo informed the audience. “Yeah, beautiful, sweet scene.”
Additionally, Garner and Ruffalo got back together in 2022 for the film The Adam Project, which also starred Ryan Reynolds. During the time when the film was being released, ET had a conversation with them and inquired about the possibility of them appearing on screen together as a couple once again.
“We completed thirteen.” After reaching the age of 30, I moved on to have lives, families, children, and a variety of other things, and when I returned, I could not help but think, “Wow.” Ruffalo said, “What a journey we’ve taken, and here we are with the end result.”
In her words, “It was so lovely,” Garner said. “It was really comforting to be together again, and I don’t think either of us realized how much we needed it and how great we feel.”
