Jimmy Carr, a comedian, said that he came dangerously close to passing away from meningitis when he was a youngster. He also mentioned that his first recollection is of his encounter with the sickness.

Carr, who is 51 years old, shared his first recollection with presenter Kathy Burke on her podcast. “My first memory is a lumbar puncture in the Irish city of Limerick,” Carr described his experience.
He was “very, very close to de.ath,” according to the comedian, and he was around three years old at the time.

Carr, who is well-known in the United States for his performances on the Comedy Central Roast series, recalls having a conversation with the doctor in which he said, “This is going to be very, very painful.”
Carr shared that he had heard the phrase previously, saying, “I went, ‘You’ve got to be cruel to be kind’ in a little child’s voice.” Carr was referring to the fact that he had heard it before.
According to Burke, “I find that to be very moving.”
I was often told, ‘Oh, you almost didn’t make it.'” Carr said, “I sort of respected that element of life because I was always told that.”
The comedian, who is featured in a new Netflix special called Natural Born Killer, also said that his impromptu quip was “the first thing that I ever said that my mother thought was funny despite the fact that it was completely unplanned.”
