Inhaling fumes from an aerosol can, such as one that contains deodorant, is a dangerous behavior that is referred to as “chroming.”

The parents of Esra Haynes, an Australian girl who passed away after chroming at the age of 13, want everyone to hear this message. Esra Haynes was 13 years old.

In the year 2018, Esra died dead on March 31st, after ‘chroming’ when she was staying at a sleepover. In addition to suffering severe brain damage, the 13-year-old girl, who was enrolled in the eighth grade at Lilydale High School in Melbourne, went into cardiac arrest.

An interview with A Current Affair revealed that her parents were completely unaware of what was about to take place.

What Esra’s mother, Andrea, had to say about the situation was that “it was just the regular routine of going to hang out with her mates.”

Paul, her father, proceeded by saying, “We were always aware of where she was and to whom she was accompanied.”

“There was nothing out of the ordinary about it.

“It was one of those calls that no parent ever wants to get, and unfortunately, we got the call: ‘Come and take your daughter.'” “To receive this phone call at that time of night, [it] represented one of those calls that no parent ever wants to receive.

“We have pictures in our minds that will never be erased, you know, of what we were confronted with,” the speaker said.

In the process of rescuing Esra, her parents came across the sight of paramedics fighting for her life. They then told Esra’s mother that she had engaged in the dangerous trend.

The next step was to take her to the hospital, where she was put on life support after being transferred there.

After eight days, Esra’s parents took the horrible decision to turn off the machines, despite the fact that her brain was “broken beyond repair.”

In addition, Paul stated, “They are requesting that we bring our family and friends to say our final goodbyes to our daughter, who is 13 years old.”

When it came to dealing with a young soul, it was a very, very tough thing to accomplish.

Imogen, Seth, and Charlie, Esra’s older siblings, who “cuddled her to the end,” were crushed by the news of their sister’s death.

This is not the first time that something similar has occurred, which is a really unfortunate revelation.

A young man of sixteen years old passed away in New South Wales in 2019 as a result of inhaling aerosols.

Then, in the year 2021, a little girl from Queensland was diagnosed with chroming, which resulted in brain damage.

A number of establishments have been forced to lock up deodorant cans as a result of an increase in the number of thefts and concerns over the purposes for which they are being used.

Schools and regional education authorities, in addition to medical professionals, are making an effort to educate youngsters about the risks associated with chroming.

Nevertheless, Paul and Andrea are of the opinion that just altering the composition of deodorant and implementing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training at every classroom is not sufficient.

He continued by saying, “For me, it’s a pistol that’s sitting on the shelf.”

It is imperative that the manufacturers take action and make significant modifications to either the formulation or the propellants.

In addition to this, he said that social media should be monitored more closely since Esra received information about the trend from that platform.

More importantly, they want to make sure that families and children are aware of the consequences that come with chroming activities.

Paul continued by saying, “Kids in general do not think beyond the next day; in fact, they do not.” And, more crucially, the fact that they are unaware of how it will influence them.

“If Esra had been aware of the repercussions of her actions, she would never have done this.”

“But the ripple effect is that this is absolutely devastating,” added his wife. “But everything falls apart.”

We do not have any children or anything else to carry back home.

Paul came to the conclusion that “we need to talk about it.”

Since her name means “helper,” that is exactly what we are going to be doing here.
