About a year after the mayor made the first pledge to create a bronze monument of Tina Turner, the local officials have given their approval for the statue to be erected in the location where she was born. This is a significant honor for Tina Turner.
According to Bill Rawls, Jr., the mayor of Brownsville, Tennessee, the community has made the decision to finance a bronze monument that will be erected in the city’s Heritage Park. The statue will be six feet tall and will be situated in close proximity to the high school that Turner attended.
We have been informed that the monument will cost around $150,000, with the city providing the first deposit after which public and private donations would cover the remaining costs. Rawls has said that he is not concerned about the process of accumulating the funds, despite the fact that the fundraiser will begin as soon as possible.
It is important to keep in mind that we had a conversation with Mayor Rawls only a few days after TT passed away in May of last year, and he presented us with this same plan: a monument of Tina to be placed in Heritage Park.
However, they are not going to stop with the statue alone; the goal is to construct a massive new plaza for the park, and the statue of Tina will serve as the focal point of the plaza.
The Tina Turner Museum is already located in the city, so it would make perfect sense to create a massive plaza that is devoted to the “Queen of Rock and Roll.”
Putting the monument in close proximity to Tina’s former high school, according to Rawls, is the most effective method to ensure that her legacy is preserved. The city is committed to honoring Tina in the most significant manner possible.
In the event that all goes according to plan, the statue, which is going to be sculpted by Fred “Ajano” Ajanogha, should be ready to be unveiled in the autumn of 2025.

After battling a variety of health issues, Tina passed away at the age of 83 in the previous year. Following her passing, a number of celebrities, including as Lizzo, Patti LaBelle, and John Fogerty, paid respect to the deceased celebrity.
Currently, her hometown is resolute in its plans to follow suit.
